Zack walked up to her and sat on the bed. He looked at her. He had done it so many times that it was natural to him. Everything about her was familiar. He had observed her for a while now. She had never noticed him before but now she did. He wanted to protect her. But from what? The Shadows? What if he tried to teach her and it backfired? Would he be able to save her?...No, he would. No matter what, he would be there to protect her. Thus, he chose his words carefully. "I...I don't know. How...How do you feel about me?" He had to ask. He needed to know. What had the kiss met to her? How did she feel about being his anchor? How was she dealing with all this? So many questions ran through her mind. He was scared. He was scared of losing her.

Kitty's breath caught in her throat. She didn't want to answer that. She was terrified, afraid of knowing what she did feel for him, how strongly it had already grown, admitting her feelings was on of her greatest fears. "Zack, I..." Her mouth gaped, lips quivering until she clenched her jaw tightly and looked away. She was a soft soul, a creature of light and gentle happiness. So many new emotions, so many newly raised questions made her shake with uncertainty. She couldn't be backed into a corner and demanded things of. Why was it that she could handle facing a villain like this, but not someone she cared about?
"I don't know...quite yet. I just know that...I want to make you feel warm, I want you to know the world isn't all cold and that sometimes the shadow can't always conquer the light. That someone will always bee here for you." She fiddled with her fingers idly in her lap. "When you kissed me...I felt..." she sighed, unsure. As soon as she grasped understanding, it fled her grip like smoke. "Something."

Zack listened to her. Every word and every syllable she spoke was soothing. But no matter how much he wanted to deny it, he wanted to push her away. As he had thought, she didn't want to be his. He was still alone in the world, still cold. He had a sudden urge to call forth Grim, to go and cleanse the souls. He yearned for the feel of the Shadows surrounding him. It was getting dark. He knew that if he were to step into the light right now, he would become a skeleton. He stood up, his eyes were filled with cold hatred. They weren't directed at her but that may have been how it seemed. He was mad that he was a monster. He was mad that he couldn't be loved. He spoke but his words were cruel. They were guttural and ephemeral, quickly dying after they left his mouth. There was no ounce of gentleness and kindness in his words but pain. Pure pain and agony. He walked over to the window, the moonlight shining through. He slowly placed his hand into the radiance of the moonlight. The minute his hand touched the light it became devoid of flesh, bone. His hand had become that of a skeleton. He spoke, cold and painful. "Don't lie to me Kitty. No matter how much I care for you, you can't love me. I'm a monster Kitty. Alright?" He took his hand away, clutching it to his chest. He went for the door and then paused. "Tell Pete I said Hi." He turned to exit.

Kitty watched his hand change in the moonlight and gasped, holding her breath tight in her chest. His entire demeanor had changed, cold and still and hard. It was like he had another side to him, one that wasn't so sweet, one that didn't care if she lived or died
She rushed to her feet, "Why the hell should it matter if I love you or not? I'm your Anchor, you can't deny that, Zack. I don't know if I can love you or not, we haven't even spent time together!" She stood gasping, anger radiating through her like a living, breathing thing. She stomped towards him, angry now. Her hands shoved him against the wall he stood by. "Why do I have to know what I feel right away? You know you don't! Nothing makes sense right now! Why should you hold it over my head when you're in the same boat?"

Zack was enraged at her words. How dare he. Was that all he was? Something that needed anchoring? Something that needed to be controlled? Maybe he had been wrong. Maybe she was just like the rest of them. Flames were reflected off his eyes He was enraged at her actions. He grabbed her and changed their positions, she up against the wall. He knew that she could phase at any time but he didn't care. He was sick and tired of it all. He was sick and tired of having to try to fit in and pretend it was alright? Why did it matter so much to him that she care for him? It was simple, he didn't want to die not knowing love. He held her against the wall, panting. Her lips looked delicious. How he wanted to kiss her, to make her his. But the Darkness wouldn't let him. It made him angry. It made him want to make her feel what he felt so very often. He longed to take her into the Shadows. He wanted to see her reaction as she was surrounded by pure Darkness. He wanted to bring forth Grim and lose all control. But he didn't. Instead, he spoke. "Is that all Kitty? You're my anchor? Fuck that? What if I don't want an anchor?" He let go off her and backed away. He moved to the window, basking under the full radiance of the moonlight as he became a living skeleton. "What if I like the Darkness, Kitty? What if I like the pain? What then? What are you going to do? I don't need a fucking anchor. " He moved forward, returning to normal. His eyes looked pained and sad. "I never asked for an anchor. I just wanted love."

She glared at him and when he backed away and spoke again, she chased him. Kitty pushed him out of the moonlight, looking at his normal figure again. "Of course a part of you likes it, part of you adores the power, the thrill, the danger. I felt it like it was my own when I was in you. But you do want an anchor, you want a reason, something to keep you tied her. You can't lie to me on that. You want to feel love and you're so desperate for it you're suicidal! But you know what? I understand, you want to know in all your reasons of darkness and how shadowed your life is, hat there is a reason to try and stop yourself from reaping everything in your path!" She stood, panting. It felt good to let it out, though, she wasn't sure what he would do.
Kitty kissed him, holding the edges of his shirt in tight fists. "Take the warmth, Zack, you need and you know it. You want it and you know it. Take it." Her eyes challenged him, dared him. He was getting darker by the second, more dangerous, more closer to the Shadows that it made the edges of her own soul feel cold.

Zack stared at her for a second and then kissed her. He kissed her because whether or not the light existed, she was his anchor. He kissed her over and over again. His hands held her face, her body close to his. His hands traveled down to her small waist, gripping her body close. Without a word, he picked her up and laid her on the bed. He suddenly felt warmer than he had before. He knew she had given him some of her energy and he wanted to show his thanks. He looked at her as he crouched over her and parted her hair away from her face. He slowly kissed her, long and passionately. All of a sudden he felt and unfamiliar sensation. He felt a strange source of power...It was light. He looked into her eyes, using her to grasp the light. As he focused on it and took it in within himself, a blue flame came from his hands. He looked at it for a second and then knew what to do. He brought his hands together, both hands now encompassed by the beautiful, soft blue flames. He kissed her and then looked into her eyes. His eyes asked her to trust him. "I'm sorry Kitty...I was...I was stupid." He brought his flame engrossed hands and clutched her face gently. He smiled at her as he brought his face down and kissed her slowly and slowly, kissing her one after the other. As he kissed her, warmth spread throughout her body, restoring the energy she had lost. He wasn't going to let her go into the Darkness. With each continuous kiss her strength would return.

Kitty gasped as the blue flames erupted around his hands and he placed them on her face. The cold had gotten so drowning, it had swallowed her nearly whole and she almost couldn't breathe. Something in her had begun to slip away into a black, cold shadow. But the fire had brought her back, it had refilled her of the warmth and gathered back what had begun to slip away. It replinished her fast, leaving her head rushing dizzily. His kisses brought back the little pieces of her that were floating away.
Her hands sought beneath his shirt and nails scraped lightly at his skin. She kissed back and wrapped one leg around his waist.
'An Anchor should never fall for a Shadow.'
Kitty tore away from his kisses, panting, fighting hard to remember how to breathe. She slammed her head back on to her pillow, still gasping for air. "Eternity is getting really annoying." She muttered, trying hard to breathe still.

Zack looked at Kitty and said words he had never heard before. He knew not why he said but that he must. She seemed frustrated. It didn't help that Zack as panting for breath. He looked at her and spoke. "If a Shadow becomes light, then Love will take flight." Zack clutched mouth, not really sure of what he had said. He laid down on the bed with her and laid beside her in the spooning position. His arms wrapped around her waist, clutching her body next to his. He had become defensive. But more importantly, what were those flames? He tried to remember the feeling but it just wouldn't come. He knew he was going to be killing himself, trying to find out what it was.

Kitty frowned and turned around, facing him on the bed. "There's either stuff you're not telling me, or there's stuff going on that you haven't figured out yet." She said, staring him deep in the eyes. Her brown set of orbs held interest yet it was shrouded with fear and the unknown. "Tell me, everything, your theories and all. What were those flames and what did you just do to me? And why the hell are random Cat in the Hat rhymes appearing in our heads? Cause I don't write that kind of poetry." She frowned, no one knew she wrote any poetry, why were her lips so loose around him?
Her lips, yes, they'd felt complete when pressed against his. They had gone tingling and lively, her body filling with sensations she'd never known before. It was a thrill, a rush of desire and need, and yet a soft flow of fear at what that meant.
Kitty tried to find some sort of humor in the situation, trying to make things seem better. "You know, you're like one of those Dementors in Harry Potter...you give me a kiss with these lips," She brushed his lips with her finger tips gently, staring at the soft flesh lovingly. "And part of me just whisps away with you." She smirked lightly. "Death's kiss."

Zack smiled at her. He had forgotten about the Darkness. He no longer yearned for Grim but just wanted to hold her tight. The warmth from her body consumed him like a conquering tidal wave. He was overcome with happiness. Light danced in his eyes, warmth finally becoming evident. Color had come to his pale cheeks, his pale features slowly gaining color. He was smiling. He was smiling for her. She was beautiful and her words brought joy to his heart. "You're amazing, you know that? But if you want to know those things, I'm afraid you're just going to have to spend more time with me." He laughed a bit. He didn't know how she'd respond but he had given her his heart long ago. He would never try to force her into anything with him. He just watched, happy that she had acknowledged him. Her finger trailed his lips and his lips suddenly became exceedingly warm. Her very touch was the anti-thesis to the Darkness. She was is Anchor. She was his Light. She was the woman...he loved.

Kitty frowned. "I'm not so very amazing when you get down to things." She murmured, fumbling with the edge of his shirt. One of her little knacks, she had to fiddle with things when she couldn't focus on others. And if a guy she liked was around, it had to be his shirt or his fingers. She thought a moment, about everything, about him, about her, about how it had felt to be inside of him. It seemed like as more time went on, the little pieces started to make sense when she gave them time to sew themselves together for her.
Her deep, warm, brown eyes fixed up on Zack's darker ones. They were warmer now, she could tell, less distant and the shadows that clung to them...were faded away completely. Though, she knew, no matter how much she gave, there would always be a sparse shadow hiding in those depths...because he was who he was. "One condition." She said sternly. "I'm your Anchor, and if you care so much about hurting me, you'll pay close attention to these details." Okay, it was a low blow, using his care for her and need to protect her against him, but she had to use what cards she was dealt. "You are NEVER to allow yourself to get too close to the shadow, under any circumstances. You come to me and I'll heal you. Got it? And don't EVER not let me help because you're being noble. Sometimes knowing when to allow others to help is being a true hero."

Zack sighed, nodding his head. He understood and didn't want to hurt her anymore than he had. In a way, he had finally had what he wanted. Sure, he wasn't loved but he had someone who truly cared about him. He looked at her. He smiled, a genuine smile. "Alright, fine. I'll do what you want." He knew she was being cheap but he didn't really mind. He knew she was right and even if he didn't want to admit it, he had to. He was reluctant to agree because he knew he was going to be tempted to keep it in but he wasn't going to. At least he'd try not to. "Alright, whatever you want." He was serious, he'd try his hardest for her.

She held his eyes a few moments more, ensuring that he wasn't trying to hide something from her. When she seemed satisfied, she sighed and nodded to herself. "Okay." She reassured herself. "So where does this leave us, Zack? I mean, I'm still technically dating Pete. But..." she trailed off. Zack felt like a dream she went to when her life didn't make her happy. She'd feel lonely, and dream of him. Was he her secret lover that swept in on a shadow and gave her everything she needed.
"Oh boy," she murmured again. "This is deep."

Zack sighed. He knew this was inevitable. This was bound to happen. Nothing good lasted long after all. "I have no idea what to tell you. It's your decision to be honest. I can't make you do anything and you're already in a relationship." He shrugged, heading for the door. It didn't seem like there was much to talk about, Pete was her boyfriend after all. It wasn't as if he could ask her to leave him. He just couldn't bring himself to do it. He opened the door, ready to leave. He wondered how things would develop. Well, looks like it was back to his room. He didn't have any reason to stay. Pete might wander in and get mad if he caught them in the room together. She had been with Bobby too. Lately guys had been having an attraction to her. But again, it wasn't his place to do anything.
