How can you feel at home, but wonder why it feels so wrong to be alive? Exchanging her dilemma with a positive though, Jean stepped down the steps deliberately taking her sweet time. True, the red-haired mutant lately has been sensing something off since her return home. She should be thankful that the Professor had found her wondering aimlessly without a clue as to her identity. Brought back to the mansion she called home, Jean’s presence mainly went unnoticed; time allowed her to slowly return to her original state of mind. While memories came and went, the most recent memory of a man she loved lost, nightmares--however was a side effect she continued to suffer.
Outside the Institute’s doors, the high noon sun beamed with extraordinary strong rays. The warm autumn day was a welcome to Jean, who enjoyed being outside as much as she loved being in the lab. Although she might have lacked the memories, Jean Grey did what came natural and to care for injured students had become a gift rather than a mere job. The latch of the doors opened by telepathy, the jolt of using her powers felt good after so long to keep them hidden. Being a psychic, it was instinctively to use her powerful abilities with her mind, but deep down a force has hider her from using her powers at all. It wasn’t until recently that Jean allowed herself to levitate small objects, but fought the urge to do anything beyond that.
As the doors swung open to reveal the outside, Jean stepped out to feel the breeze. Most of the students inside for classes or out in the yard playing, Jean felt at ease to use her free time to relax and try to forget the issues she has been dealing with. Hoping that if she left the X-mansion, Jean wish it relieve her of constant and painful headaches that have been bothering her for days. When a strong presence overwhelmed her, a powerful and familiar aura, Jean narrowed her eyes –positive it was not one of Charles’ X-men or a student.

Erik had parked his sleek black rolls royce front doors of the school. That morning to a sunny day and perfect for getting out of the city and enjoy nature and around Westchester. Erik remembered perfectly the beautiful Japanese garden that Charles had built, he often sat to admire the beautiful scenery. He sighed deeply before entering the mansion. He had been off security alarms when they spotted what he was pure magnetic energy. With his hands in his trouser pockets entered the mansion as his own home. He had received a letter from Jean Grey saying that she wanted to talk to him. It was she who found him.
Erik was astonished to see her alive and he thought about the legend of the phoenix bird. "Now I believe in the myth of the Phoenix, the beautiful bird that always rises from the ashes. I think you expect me, not Jean?. So that you did call me, I hope it's for good reason. Lately spend more time with your young boys with my own guild. ye have uncontrolled to your students. Not to mention the young Rogue. I have it in my lair"

Jean released a hiss from her lips as soon as she saw the familiar face. She had almost forgotten there was a little arrange meeting, mainly because of her doing. It happened a few nights ago, Jean was consumed by one of her many headaches, but this time it was different. The psychic normally had flashes of pleasant memories, but a tour of the outside institute brought her to a head stone, in fact three grave-markings. One belonged to the Professor, one to Scott, and the third belong to her. IT was strange to be looking at your own gravestone, knowing there was no body beneath it. The grave-marking must have been placed before they were aware that all three people survive by some means and now simply laid there for no reasons. But glancing on her gravestone opened a whole set of visions.
Most of them were a blur but one face that set them apart was Eric or mainly known as Magneto. She remembered him when she was a child; one who assisted the Professor when she first met them. The difference between him and the Professor was he didn’t share the dream Charles Xavier had. So looking at the man who came to her months before in attempts at using her incredible powers --was almost like living in the past. Except without the Phoenix’s hatred and rage, Jean felt in control. Unfortunately she went behind the Professor’s back to speak with Magneto, something she never done before. But the red-haired mutant felt that she had to overcome her fears and she had to do it alone.
“I’m surprised you came at all, Magneto.” Jean replied, noticing that his power has returned and seem to be the same Magneto she remembered. “Really now?” She question, surprised that he was been talking with a few of their own students. It was a first she heard of it. “For someone who has no conscious to manipulate others in your favor, you should be happier --I would think.” Jean would have to talk to the professor about that, but one thing she couldn't ask the Professor were the question she knew Eric could answer.
“The reason I ask you here is because I have a few questions. Concerning out past, I think you owe me that much. I want to know what happened. I want to know what happened to me, to the Professor. Everything.” Jean had enough trying to figure out what happened. She can’t even remember on her own free will and the Professor seem less than happy to give her answers. She knew only one person would give her the truth without trying to hurt her feelings, that one person was her enemy. Magneto.

The gravestones indeed caused disturbances for Jean. Perhaps Magneto was right, that it’d be bad luck to look upon your own grave. Sure, she hasn’t had a moment rest since looking at the stones with their names engraved. Jean was normally very patient, but recently –no matter where she turns- she has been annoyed. It was just so irritating when she enters a room, everyone is just careful how they talk to her and how they act around her. And now as she deals struggling with her infamous temper and feelings of resentment, Jean has slowly became curious why these emotions were surfacing now.
"Erik," Jean spoke careful and deliberately-losing the formality. "I’m not that child any more. I understand the Professor’s desire to keep me safe. He wants to keep all his children safe. He is a great father-figure and a wonderful mentor. Without him, I would be lost." The psychic spoke, trying to maintain her temper. "But I don’t see why you hesitate to answer my questions. Wasn’t it you who was always eager to take the first step?"
Jean couldn’t think of one reason why she wanted to know the truth. Maybe because she couldn’t remember or like an analytical person she was, Jean had to know since it was about her. Magneto was the last person who would go to, exampling her desperation. It wasn't her idea of fun to talk peacefully to the man she saw as an enemy, despite being a personal and close friend with Xavier.
"Do misinterpret me. My loyalty is to the Professor, always". The red-haired mutant called out, confidently. Her mistrust in Magneto couldn’t be blamed. "I don’t expect the whole truth from you, but I never took you for a man of compassion."

See also the tombstones was unpleasant for him. Although he never had that, Erik was always a friend of Charles, he never had said many times that they two had been friends in the past, good friends and fought together. They both had been hits, two powerful mutant who had fought against those who attack innocent mutants. Erik with a single hand movement used its powers to create a magnetic field around the tombstones, he made them disappear making the earth burial. The granite was unpleasant sound. He said nothing for what he had done. He saw the tombstone of Charles disappear into the ground.
"Charles should not be remembered with a tombstone if not in this mansion. Your boyfriend, Scott ... I think I could never admit this, but he was a great leader and the replacement of Charles when he was not. But I think things have changed. Jean, you've always been a girl for Charles and me. I helped Charles with the school, I went to your professor that I decided to leave. You were the second of our students. The first was, Ororo. He always had great parental love, the daughter he never had. I could tell you about it and tell you many things you do not know Charles. He and I wanted to change the world. You're not lost, Jean" -He spoke with sincerity and honesty and puts a hand on her shoulder for quietness her . "I know no one trust me, but I can take care of yourselves as Charles once did. And I've never doubted your loyalty. Even when you owned the phoenix even what you were on the inside"

The gravestone disappeared, destroyed like many broken things of this world. Unfortunately, they can’t all be fixed as simply as the grave marking was. She stared at the empty lot, now only remaining was hers and Scott’s. And at the mention of Scott’s name, Jean’s mind zone out. It has only been a week or so, but the sudden disappearance of Scott worried her greatly. She tried reaching out to him telepathically, but him and their psychic bond was gone with no traces to be found. Even the Professor has been incredibly busy. Jean felt like she was being left behind and everyone she greatly cared about was leaving her.
"I never asked for you to watch over me." Jean replied. It was at that moment she felt like a child, back at her parents’ house when first the Professor and Magneto spoke to her about mutant abilities. She once said they never met a mutant like herself. And now she was standing before Magneto, searching for answers and all she had was an incredible burden upon her shoulders and had no idea for what reasons.
"This world is changing," She whispered, expressing her worse fears. "People are changing. I’m changing." Jean couldn’t imagine what she was transforming into, but deep within her consciousness she knew it would happen soon. The last few weeks since the Professor found her, especially since she no longer had a connection with Scott, Jean was expressing disturbing behaviors. "Everyone I know is treating me differently; there are students I don’t even remember. And now I can’t even use my powers without fearing it’ll hurt someone."

"Charles and I were meant to keep an eye on you, Jean. We went to look for you, we take care of you took a home, you could not live with your parents, your powers were unstable. Here you find your real family, westchester schoolkid. But for me it's too late, Jean ". Magneto next to Jean, he calmed down her , Erik's voice was softer, warmer. For the first time and after many years, Erik Lehnsherr was being sincere and honest. Maybe this happened for the death of Charles, by the death of his only friend.
A slight cold wind did move the long coat it. He closed it firmly to the chest but also covering the neck. "The world is changing, Jean. We're changing. I have done it too. But you do not have to be afraid to control your powers, you must find the control over them, my dear. Charles the only thing he did was protect, delete that part of you that was unstable. Charles paternal instinct took over me". He chuckled. "The students become accustomed again to you, my dear. They will give you a second chance. You just have to give them time to them." By year that he not use his psychological skills. No one knew he had studied many years ago psychology and engineering.

This was a site to see. If it wasn’t for the seriousness of their conversation, Jean would have considered this moment uncanny. Magneto was actually sincere with his feelings--not insisting on winning a war or how mutants are superior. For a moment, Jean could understand his point of view. Not because of past persuasions, but saw that pain and perhaps the torment he went through. It wasn’t as if she could see into his mind, but Eric opened himself in a way Jean thought would be impossible. Glancing at him reminded her of the Professor in such a way, that both of them were simply trying to save the mutant race--but in different ways.
"But its all still up here," Jean replied, pointing to her mind. "I think you understand that no matter how far you run, somethings will always catch up with you." Magneto probably knew that better than anyone. It was hard to overcome the image she saw him as. When thinking of an enemy, he was always the first person that came to mind. But he seemed changed somehow; something deep inside was turning him into another character all together. He was the same, but maybe the cure and the Professor’s death genuinely inflicted him.
"The students are living in a war. Everything might seem calm now and some might be oblivious to it, but I don’t think the peace will last long." She considered Magneto’s comment on how the students will have to get use to her. Now she was a teacher, she had to teach them how to handle their abilities when the time comes for them to stand up against those who persecute them. "You had a lot of time to think about things, haven’t you? You are living proof that people and things can change. Maybe for the good."

"Jean, of course it is on your mind, the Phoenix is within you and you must control it. You are able to because you have power to do so. What Charles did wrong was shut your true power. ... I understand what he did now. But no one can be locked up like an animal. Charles just wanted to protect you and us. I do not mean to humans, you already know what my point of view on them, my dear. This is what we have always differentiated Charles and me. "
Erik smiled slightly covering over his face in the collar of his elegant black cashmere coat, feeling the cold wind that had formed. It was truly the wind, or the goddess?. Erik thought the sky was looking a little cloudy. He had not told her as he missed Charles, his only friend. Erik thought was going to be the future of Westchester School and students, Xavier´s children.
"Jean, you know if Charles left everything arranged by if something happened?. Do you understand me?". Asked hoping he would not have to tell it to her that if Charles had settled all cases closed before he died, if he had made a will. Erik felt the obligation (although he had been the enemy) to help them. "Students will live forever in a war, Jean. Human beings want our demise and the war will break out again but not for me, im sure to you my dear. I have enough strength to start a war, I'm old enough. Also you do not have to worry about the students. The X Men are to protect, no? ".Smiled ironically. "I've thought a lot, my dear. But, you see me changed?. I think it's age, my dear. I'm the oldest man. It seems that from what happened in Alcatraz, we've all changed, we've all aged and changed. It was impossible not to "

"The fire of Phoenix burns to destroy. What the Professor did…" Jean’s serene and careful features grimaced, and then a flash of sick satisfaction flared in her green eyes. "He locked my powers, but then again, not even the world’s strongest telepath is perfect. Even you, my dear Erik, know how degrading it is to be kept from reaching your potential. No matter. In fact, I should thank you and Xavier. If not for your little argument, the power the power I crave wouldn’t be mine."
Jean noticed the sudden change in weather, a Storm brewing. Either Ororo was feeling upset since the weather depends on her mood, or the drop in temperature was natural. Jean pushed the double doors leading into the mansion open with her abilities, a quiet invitation for Magneto. "Chilly, Erik?" The woman asked. "By all means come inside." Her voice was soft with a hint of mockery, something that was very far from the real Jean.
The mention of the Professor got the psychic focused, the malice in her eyes completely disappeared. She looked to the mansion; a symbol of Xavier’s dream that one day human and mutants alike can live together in peace. Although his dream still had a long ways to go and might seem nearly impossible, the Xavier Institute was the foundation and his legacy.
"I’m not sure what I know anymore," Jean replied feeling that reality was slowly slipping away. "I know that Ororo was given his title as headmistress, but the school and everything else I have no idea. This is home many of us feel safe in and everyone here is more of a family than the ones the students were raised in. Everyone here is understood, something they might not get from their parents. If something happened to it, many lives will change".
"Why the sudden interest?" She asked curious, wondering if Xavier’s friend felt a responsibility on his shoulders to protect the family of the Professor. No matter how different their dreams or view points were.
