Tara watched the interaction between the other students with a hidden amusement, this place was just like other school in most ways, that made her feel a bit better. She picked up on the familiarity between the Professor and some of the students, almost akin to family. Well, seeing the same people day in and day out, that was bound to happen, no denying that. Tara threaded her fingers together beneath her desk, as Logan described the purpose of the class.
Control, that sounded nice and all, but also foreign to her ears. She looked over shoulder briefly, most of the students in the class room were probably already part of the team that went on missions probably, Tara guessed. Turning back to the front of the room she released a very small sigh.
I want each of you to come up here and demonstrate for the class what your power is."
Tara's spin went rigid a cold tingle running down the length of her body. She steadied her breathing, before, well before she became too nervous or panicked. It was just a small demonstration, Tara could handle that. Nevertheless, she didn't want to go first.

Logan's retort drew Kitty to chuckle. She cared a lot for Logan but when his eyes flashed to Bobby and Jubilee then to Kitty again- there was something else as Logan thought in those dark eyes. Then it made sense, he cared for Rogue like a daughter and Bobby had just left her for Kitty.
Jubilee's voice called to her.
Kitty blushed, red flags stealing her cheeks as Jubilee hollered at her with a tease. She smiled apologetically at Logan and gathered her stuff fast, sitting back in the back of the room next to Bobby, flashing a smile at him. It was strange to think she had a place next to someone in class now. Kitty was so used to sitting alone in the front row, anxious to participate, that it was weird to sit in the back where someone wanted her.
But the warmth of Bobby's presence chilled away when Logan stated their task at hand. Kitty was comfortable in her abilities, good with them and had them under control. But, recently, she'd found a new ability she'd had and only just begun practicing them. Not only that, but she had lately had the fear that it was taking too much focus to stay solid instead of phasing. She was afraid she would lost control one day, start phasing away and never be able to stop. But more over, her new talents scared the life out of her. Kitty had always been a simple mutant with a simple ability, now, as she got older and used her ability more, she was developing almost uncontrollably.
Kitty's hand sought Bobby's, slipping her fingers into his for comfort. Bobby made things alright, he made everything simple and clean. It was like when she swam, his presence and his eyes calmed her like nothing else.

Jubilee almost jumped out of her chair as she heard Logan say to walk up and show their powers. Jumping from her seat she bounded to the front of the class smiling as she turned to face them all, her hair up in pig tails.
"Hi every one, I'm jubilee this is my power " she showed them the small fire work type display "I generate bright bursts of multi-colored energy plasmoids from my fingertips, I call them my fireworks" she said grinning "My fireworks obeyed my mental control, traveling where I directed them, arranging themselves in balls, streamers, and other shapes, and exploding when I wished, They are capable of temporarily blinding a person to a powerful detonation capable of smashing objects and destroying property, or a precision burst inside a human brain, simulating the effects of a massive stroke. I can absorb the fireworks back into my own body without harm. "she did so and stood smiling as she looked at Logan "how was that ?" she asked rocking slightly back and forth on her heels.

OOC: I hope this is alright. It's a bit different from Rumble's style, from what I read...
Logan listened absently to Jubes as he rested lazily in his chair, his heavy boots still sitting atop the desk. His eyes didn't wander much, only jumping across the classroom when a giggle or a quiver of a new scent caught his attention. He found his attention being drawn to the back row more often than he would have liked, Bobby's new-found attraction to Kitty not boding well with him. He shouldn't have cared...it wasn't like it mattered to him what the boys and girls did with their free time. Still...it wasn't gonna be an easy thing, dealing with this. Rogue was the girl who he'd had the longest connection with, a close friend, and as much as he hated to admit it...almost a daughter to him. It was a bad connection, and it made him anxious every time he was around her. His instincts begged him to get out of the girl's gravity, to keep himself away from this dangerous connection. But he was loyal, and she...well, she did hold a part of him inside her. Literally.
But he wasn't exactly worst enemies with the other two, either.
Sure, Bobby was a little more distant than the girls. Just the fact that they were both males, even though they would never be competing for the same women, had made an uncrossable divide between Logan and the Iceman. Wolverine wasn't even sure if Bobby noticed the cause for the separation, but every time the kid got too close Logan couldn't help but to expand his personal space. It was an instinctive thing.
And Kitty...Kitty was another one of the girls. Wolverine didn't know what was up with the kids, why he seemed to relate better to them than any of the other X-Men; he just knew that he did. Kitty was an innocent, as he saw it, and what with her powers acting up and all, he figured she'd be growing up damn fast by now. Again, the too-close familiarity that he shared with her just begged for him to push her away, but he couldn't do that. Maybe he was still a little innocent at heart, too.
Even after a hundred years of war...or so the Professor said.
Jubes was done with her demonstration soon enough. "How was that?" she asked cheerfully, rocking back and forth on her heels with a quiet impatience. He'd been lucky enough to have been listening, somewhat distractedly, and he looked up just as she finished, catching her eyes with his own tawny ones for a calculating second before he grunted an affirmation and called Bobby up to the front of the class. If he couldn't directly give the Iceman a piece of his mind, he could sure as hell make his life just a little bit harder; he had no doubt that both Bobby and Kitty would understand his motive.

Johnny opened the door into the classroom, late. He groaned, man was he in for it. He already knew Logan was going to chew him out. But he didn't have a choice. This was, after all, his favorite class. He needed control. He was more than willing to listen on how to get it. He sighed and looked at Logan, waiting for his punishment. He knew it was coming, and he knew it'd be bad.

Jubilee sighed and lost some of her excitement as she walked back to her desk she had done as he asked in every detail where had she gone wrong, her questions went around in her mind as she sighed resting her head on her arm as she gently rocked her pen back and forth lost in her own deep thoughts so much so she didn't or rather barely noticed when john walked in. She felt inside she had fallen at the first hurdle.
She sat back on the chair her dark hair now covering her face as she looked at her hands sparking lightly in front of her.
"what did I do wrong?" she said softly feeling like she wanted to leave the room. She knew she could not or it would be a black mark against her.

A low rumble vibrated in the back of Logan's throat when he heard the footsteps rushing down the hall. John. That boy. Though Wolverine couldn't say he hated the kid, the teenager sure as hell wasn't one of the teacher's favourites. Gallagher had a nasty habit of coming late to class more often than he came early; he'd probably set a school record for the most detentions in one year.
Not that Logan's own form of discipline didn't help out with that in its own way, but still.
"That'll be an hour, boy," Wolverine growled when John finally came hurrying in, panting slightly but trying to hide it. The teacher didn't bother to set a time or place for the punishment...he usually just passed the chores Scott gave him to do off to the kid. Plus, not choosing a time gave Logan the option to send the boy out to work at any hour of the day...even if Gallagher was just leaving. Training sessions worked too, and sometimes Wolverine used those, but he mostly stuck to manual chores. The other teachers didn't always approve of his combat methods, and he didn't push his luck, though it did annoy him that the concept of bar fighting never seemed to sink in for them.
He heard Jubes' whispering to herself then and glanced over at her figure in the corner, his eyes catching the subtle glimmer that danced off her palms. Her fingers were like living prisms, the sunlight streaming in from outside making them glint with imperceptible rainbows. Smoke screens and mirror tricks, he thought to himself, his expression shifting from irritation to impatiently questioning. He didn't want to be angry with her...but what the hell? He'd given her the okay, the all good and there she sat, upset with herself. She'd done nothing. What did she see on his face that made her so unhappy with the results of her little speech? He was not angry or disappointed or unhappy with her presentation in any way, but now he was frustrated. He'd been trying to slide into a position at the school, one other than the mysterious protector (because how could he want to protect those he didn't even know?) and the only kid he'd had any luck with was Rogue. Her friends were an extension of this connection...she was his door, in essence, into the juvenile society of Xavier's institute. But fuck if he knew how to relate to kids. Shouldn't they be more...adult by now? They were full grown, weren't they? He could smell their maturity at this very moment, with the hormones rushing off their bodies in waves; it was one of many reasons why he wasn't inclined to spend more time with the human population. So why didn't they act their age? The girl's tenderness was an unexpected side affect of her inexperience, he decided. It had to be.
Maybe he'd have to be more expressive.
"You did good, Jubes," he said in a quiet, laconic tone that did not do to well at belaying the truth behind his words. Logan wanted to piece the adolescent puzzle together, but he also wanted to gain some trust in the process...but his sincerity was hard-pressed to make itself known.

John groaned and took a seat by Kitty, keeping his head down. One hour? He was aware he wasn't Logan's favorite, although he did look up to Logan. Still though, why him? It wasn't his fault. He didn't try to be tardy. He just...blanked sometimes. The Professor had said it was a side effect of his power. Sometimes he hated his powers. He kept his head down, staying silent. He felt isolated. He was used to it though. He was a loner. Even if he was sociable, people tended to get bored of him.

Kitty glanced to the side, looking at John and watching him withdrawal from the world slowly. He was a decent kid, he just tended to get misjudged and fell into the wrong step sometimes. Kitty leaned over and nudged him, offering a smile and holding up a finger as if to tell him to 'wait.'
She tore out a piece of notebook paper and scribbled on it with a purple inked pen. When she was done, she slipped it to him by his books and leaned back, chewing on the pen and watching Logan. She was always attentative in class, ready to learn. Though now, with her recent inability to control her powers and feel normal again, she wasn't as eager to step up for class participation. Maybe busying herself with John could make Logan see she was trying to help a fellow student feel more accepted and leave her be. Though, one could only hope.
The note, that she'd so cleverly slipped to John out in the open was simple, and in her delicate script, it looked more fancy than it should have been.
"Hey, I'm Kitty Pryde. Don't worry about Logan, he's just tough. I know you're having a hard time, but don't forget there's always someone willing to help. ~Kitty"
She gave him another friendly smile and doodled on her notebook, in addition to the other doodles. They generated around detailed angelic wings and beautiful script about love or famous quotes that she'd liked.

John was surprised to receive a note from Kitty. As he took it, making sure to be discreet, he couldn't help but arch an eyebrow at her. He quickly read it, smiling. He knew Logan was tough but it was always nice to have someone confirm it. He took out a mechanical pencil and wrote, "John. John Gallagher. Thanks for the offer. I already knew you name though." The note ended with a smiling face, his attempt at being nice.

Kitty opened the note on her desk with a smile and quickly wrote back. It was nice to help someone else, though it wasn't much at all. It took Kitty's mind off of how difficult her life had gotten lately with her powers acting up. It was a nice reprieve from the shadows that haunted her now.
"Oh, sorry. Well, confronting Logan is always good, showing him respect and showing him you're also a respectable person- it ranks high with him. He'll come around."
