As the morning sun illuminated the horizon, the sky lit up as if it was catching on fire. At daybreak, a flaming red-haired woman walked to the same location the Professor had found her days before. She could not find the exact reason why she was drawn to such an ordinary place, but the last few days dreams that haunted her wouldn’t stopped and eventually driven her mad. Determined to find the mystery behind her unexplained dreams, Jean woke early that morning and traveled to the Alkali Lake to see what has been calling out to her.
Stepping quietly onto the shore, she stared out to what looked like an endless abyss. Pleasant voices of distant memories rang through her mind; the image of a man she could not identify was the same man who consumed her dreams. Although she did not know who he was or even his name, Jean without a doubt knew they loved each other. Stopping at the water, the psychic climbed the mound of rocks that overlooked the waterfront and walked until very edge. Something was amiss and as if someone called out for her, Jean could sense an unusual presence that made her heart ache and jump at the same time.
When she went to pick up a single stone lying on its own, a vision flashed through her mind. “He was here,” Jean thought out aloud. But the pain did not stop when she remembered a day she kissed him, a wonderful reunion, until something horrible gone wrong. Desperate to end the vision and to stop the guilt that was overwhelming her, Jean instinctively sent out a powerful wave of pure psionic power towards the water. She continued to do so as she whispered, without knowing it, coming from her subconscious.
“I’m so sorry, Scott.”

Scott felt this strong urge to go down by the lake, he didn't know why but he felt it. Getting up and leaving the small one man cabin he built for himself he headed down to the lake. Having no memories sucked when waking up in the middle of nowhere with the only clue as to who you once were was clearly a guy who shot lasers out of your eyes.
Since he didn't have his glasses or visors with him or on him when he came back he had forced himself to live a blind mans life. Learning how to see without actually seeing. Using a stick he found long enough to act as a walking stick was one of the more fortunate things to befall him since waking up there.
Coming down to where he remembered the lake to be he felt something powerful in the immediate area. It was both welcoming and frightening to him. The blind, amnesiac Scott just stood in silence as he felt a strange feeling, like he was being pushed without actually being touched.
He was standing roughly twenty feet to her right when he heard her say his name, only he didn't know it was his name. "Hello?" he finally called out to whoever it was there with him.

Jean was so concentrated in her own thoughts; she failed to sense the familiarity of the new presence. Until she heard him from behind, the red-hair female continued to fire out much suppressed anger. When she heard a voice from behind, everything went still and calm as if someone had turned her mind completely off. Rocks that had once been suspended in mid-air crashed to the ground as Jean turned to find a handsome face looking roughly in her direction.
Everything single detail reminded her of the man who haunted her dreams, except this time he was more than just a forgotten memory, but the same man in the flesh. She rushed to meet him and was close to touching in him when a voice inside her head screamed for her not to. Quickly as she could, Jean pulled back as her green eyes were mesmerized by everything about him, except for his closed eyes. For some reason unknown, she wished to see his eyes, desired to see them in the light. But as he stood there unable to see, standing here beyond all physical laws, she yearned to hold him just to be certain it all wasn’t another nightmare.
“You are…? Scott?” She questioned, confused by not knowing who he was, but loving him anyway.

“You are…? Scott?
That voice, it was so familiar, but from where? And who was she? He tried to remember on the spot but all he managed to do was make his head hurt. "I don't know.." he said as he trailed off.
He wished he could open his eyes but he knew better so he didn't. Instead he reached forward and placed his fingers on the left side of her face. Moving them along her face he traced her features and processed them into his mind. Her image coming to him as a memory of her and who she was to him returned suddenly.
He pulled his hand back quickly as his jaw dropped. "Jean?" he asked in total shock of both a returned memory and of her. He remembered that they were together and that he loved her, but that was all he remembered. Coming closer again he lifted his hand up and exposed his palm to her. He didn't know why or what she would do but he did it anyway.

The man looked as confused as Jean was; as if he too lost all the precious memories they built together. As he touched her, she knew it was not a dream and the touch of his skin was real as he was. She gently leaned towards his touch and as though he was forming a picture of her in his mind, Jean was able to take in every detail of him. He appeared to be the same self-efficient Scott she could remember and after many months of living out here on his own, it must have been his own strength that able him to survive this long.
When he spoke her name, Jean smiled with hope, a few tears escaping from her closed eyes. As she opened, she noticed he offered his hand and in a moment, she accepted it. In just a quick moment of silence, she moved close to him and refused to let this moment go. It was as if death allowed them a second chance to be together, and perhaps have their life together.
"I don’t understand, you’re alive." Jean whispered, happy and simply released from the torment of losing someone she never knew existed until today. "I thought you and what we might have shared, was all a dream."

Scott listened to her and nothing she said sounded familiar to her, he was surprised he even knew her name. Feeling her lean into his hand and cup her hand over his he could not help but feel a connection to this woman like no other. "I'm sorry but I can't remember who you are. I'm surprised that I even know your name is Jean." he said pulling his hand away from her and taking a step back.
Scott lowered his head as if he was looking at the ground as he thought hard about something other then the last few months he spent alone and blind. "I can't remember anything before three months ago. I woke up here with no memory of who I am or anything about my life." a tear slid down his cheek. "I'm sorry..."

Jean listened to Scott speak, that he too could not remember who she was, let alone himself. Jean could relate to his lack of memories, but if not for the Professor’s help, she would be in the exact position Scott was in -- without memories, still lost in darkness and alone. “Please don’t worry, don’t harm yourself in trying to remember.” The red head said, worried and concerned about Scott pushing himself. “I’m confused, like you. I can’t remember why, but I feel like you are alive and that itself, is a miracle and that is all that does matter.”
Jean unsure, leaned close enough to touched his cheek and gently caressed his skin until she stopped near his eyes while wiping away the tear. As if just realizing what she was doing, Jean pulled away and looked up at Scott. “You don’t have to be alone anymore.” The woman answered, as if she might have sensed his thoughts or maybe just understood his loneliness, having been the same way as long as she could remember. She could not understand the meaning behind it all, but she was experiencing joy, pain and even love all at the same time where once she just lacked the emotions. “I might not have the answers, but I can be sure that I can help you with your powers in the least.”

Alive? What was she talking about? Did he die or something before? He didn't know and couldn't remember but he did like she said and relaxed. Unaware of what she was doing he was surprised, jumped even when he felt her hand on his face. He reached up and put his hand on hers and wrapped his fingers around her hand. "I don't know what I'm supposed to do." he said.
Then instinctively over self controlling he reached out and pulled her into a hug. He just needed to hold her and be held. He had been alone and scared this whole time, along with confused and malnourished. "You mean my little eye problem?" he asked when she spoke of his powers.
Maybe it was the overwhelming situation or the lack of food these last few months. Either way it didn't matter, Scott fell into her, weak and passed out.

The sudden hug caught Jean by surprised, but it didn’t hinder her as she felt it was the safest place on earth. When Scott spoke of his eyes, Jean could only nod, taking time to think of the Professor. He would know what to do and how to handle Scott’s powers. It was like running through a maze without directions. She was getting tiny bits of information that seemed to even confuse her more. Then without warning at all, Scott collapsed in her arms as she slowly laid him onto the ground, looking at him.
It would be no trouble getting the two of them home, but Jean struggled with the situation. She did not want to take him against his will in a home he cannot remember. The red haired female wanted to be patient as the Professor was with her. She doubted she could handle it if Scott woke up and decided it was best for him to leave, but she was worried about him. Jean wanted to stay close to him for selfish reasons because he was the first and only person, since the Professor discovered her, which made remember things. Gently touching him, Jean decided on her next move.
