-Real Name: Katherine Anne Pryde “Kitty”
-Code Name:Shadowcat
-Faction: X-Men
-Age: 23
-Date of Birth:
-Height: 5’4”
-Weight: 110
-Physical Description: Kitty has a slim build but has gained a solid layer of muscle from years of training with the X-Men. Her small figure is softly curved and is usually cloaked in torn blue jeans and a t-shirt. Her soft, chestnut hair billows down her back nearly to her waist and is most commonly pulled into a pony tail atop her head. Two thick columns of hair hang loose to frame her face and often hang over her eyes to shield her expression. Dark, chocolate eyes stare from behind a veil of feathery lashes. Her X-uniform has changed often through the years but seems to have settle on that which she received during her years with the Astonishing X-men. It is solidly black, accented with yellow. Her gloves, boots, hair tie, and belt are the golden yellow and a ‘V’ is formed down her front to continue in back to her shoulders also in yellow. A black ‘X’ is at her belt buckle and the inside of her collar, usually half flipped up is yellow as well.
-Personality:
Kitty is not the young ‘Sprite’ she once was. Years and new challenges have made her grow into a young woman. She is assertive as well as calculating when it comes to problem-solving. Her unique ability to manage computer programs is immaculate and just short of genius. But she is mostly modest, her temper has shortened considerably but she still holds that trademark smile and glint in her chocolate eyes. Her love life is complicated and as of now, she has no idea where she stands. Love has complicated too many missions and seeing what it’s done to Jean and Scott has made her scoot away from any ideas. She has found herself to be more of a leader and hopes to take on that of a more leader-like aura as Scott or Wolverine.
-Powers: Kitty is a mutant with the ability to pass through solid matter by altering the vibratory rates of her atoms: passing her atoms through the spaces between the atoms of the object through which she is moving. In this way she and the object through which she is passing can temporarily merge without interacting, and each is unharmed when Shadowcat has finished passing through the object. This process is called phasing, and it renders her almost completely intangible to physical touch. Shadowcat passes through objects at the same speed at which she is moving before she "enters" them. Since she is unable to breathe while "inside" an object, she can only continuously phase through solid objects (as when she travels underground) as long as she can hold her breath. However, contrary depictions of the duration of her phasing ability have been presented, such as when she has phased miles within an object. The use of her abilities also interferes with any electrical systems (and if she concentrates in the right way, this includes the bio-electric systems of the human body[40]) as she passes through by disrupting the flow of electrons from atom to atom. This typically causes machines to malfunction or be destroyed as she phases through them. While phasing, she does not physically walk on surfaces, but rather interacts with the molecules of air above them, allowing her to ascend and descend, causing her to seemingly walk on air. While phased, she is immune to most physical attacks, and has inconsistent showings of some resistance to telepathy. The density of some materials (such as adamantium) can prove deleterious to her phasing, causing her to be severely disoriented or experience pain if she tries to pass through them.[42] Some energy attacks also prove problematic for Kitty. Kitty can also extend her powers to phase other people and objects. Currently, she is able to phase at least a half a dozen other people (or objects of similar mass) with her, so long as they establish and maintain physical contact with her. She can extend her phasing effect to her own clothing or any other object with mass up to that of a small truck, as long as she remains in contact with it. Kitty can also make objects intangible by maintaining contact with them.
-Weaknesses: Her hatred for Emma Frost and her love for Colossus. Simple, yet complex. Since joining the X-men, Emma has been an ever present villain in Kitty’s mind since she captured the X-Men upon Kitty first joining. Colossus, is a difficult issue, he is the main love interest for her though she has some strange feelings for Bobby Drake after their ice skating on the frozen fountain at the mansion.
-Skills: Advanced computer technician
-Equipment/Weaponry: n/a
- Relatives: Mother (Theresa) and Father (Carmen) Pryde deceased, her best friend, the small, purple dragon Lockheed that she accommodated on her travels.
-History: Katherine Anne "Kitty" Pryde was born in Deerfield, Illinois to Carmen and Theresa Pryde. Of Jewish descent, her paternal grandfather, Samuel Prydeman, was held in a Nazi concentration camp during World War II. Kitty started to have headaches at age thirteen, signaling the emergence of her mutant powers. She was approached by both the X-Men's Charles Xavier and the Hellfire Club's White Queen, Emma Frost, both of whom hoped to recruit her for their respective causes. Kitty was unnerved by Frost, observing that the White Queen had looked at her as if she were "something good to eat.” Kitty spent her time at the mansion training in the Danger Room to grow a better fighter. She formed a liking to Bobby Drake and later to Colossus. And in the background, she has found a great interest in Warren Worthington, the Archangel, but knew she never had a chance. She trained hard with Logan and tried hard to impress him. She traveled often to the London branch of the X-men and across the world to fight in other places where it was claimed she was needed. She was taught many things and learned to better herself in fighting. She is only just now returning after the death of Jean and the onslaught of the disaster. She’d managed to escape the grief stricken mansion for the long three months and finally decided she was ready to return.
