Clearly John would have to work with Derek if he wanted him to lighten up. In his present, slightly drunken state, he was pretty optimistic about his success, though. When the Asian walked out of the shed, John threw a last, regretful look back to the lone beer bottle staying behind. Full of the delicious liquid but apparently poisoned by Derek. Oh well, there would be more alcohol to where they were going, no doubt.
He followed Derek out into the night, closing the door behind them. The party was still going on at the mansion but he was happy to get out of here. Partying with the X-Men wasn't exactly his preferred past time these days. So he caught up with his new friend and nodded when he asked him to lead the way. John walked over to the garage, entered and turned on the lights. An impressive armada of vehicles was standing there: cars, motorbikes, SUVs... After a quick look around, Pyro approached a shiny, red sports car. He then looked back to Derek. "Derek, may I present Cyclops' newest toy...", then he looked to the car, "...Cyclops' newest toy, may I present Derek, your driver for tonight?" He chuckled, then tried the door which was, of course, locked.
Pyro grumbled something, searched his pockets and came out with a little metallic thing. Within seconds the lock was picked and opened. "I assume you don't know how to start a car without its key, right?" He looked at Derek briefly but didn't wait for an answer. Instead he sat behind the wheel, worked a bit, and quickly the powerful car was starting up. He then moved over to the other seat, so Derek could sit down behind the wheel. "It's all yours..." He smirked, proud of his car stealing skills. Considering it had been a while and how much he had drunk, this had worked rather well. "Come on let's get going!"
oot: by the way... Westchester County to New York City... that would be roughly a ten hour walk each way...

Derek was indeed impressed at Pyro’s skill. But he didn’t want to say anything or it would look like he endorsed the act. He was beginning to worry about what would happen if they got caught. He then walked closer to see what Pyro was doing to the car.it made him wonder how many other cars Pyro had “tampered” with. “It seems like you have done this many times before,” he said still looking at what Pyro was doing. When he finished, Derek backed away to allow Pyro to have room to get out. It wasn’t untill Pyro asked him to drive, did he realise how bad of a driver he was. Well, not bad but not abiding by the law. Derek never learned to drive the old fashion way. Everytime he was in a car it was usually on life or death purposes.
“Are you suggesting at I drive. I don’t think that is such a good idea,” Derek said unsuringly. He stood there for a while contemplating. What to do? Derek perfered the car to return in one piece and it wont happen if he is driving. “How about you drive?”
(OOC: precisely XP jk. My brain was meshed from Ochem so I wasn’t thinking clearly. I just got back from a party and im deeeaaaddd lol)

Clearly Derek was impressed with his skills. Pyro always loved it when people were impressed by the things he could do. Usually it involved his powers but obviously this was already good enough in Derek's case. "Well... once or twice...", he looked up to the Asian and grinned. "Comes in handy when you live on the streets which I did for a few years... before the X-Men. Haven't done it much since..." But nice to know, it still worked.
When he moved over to the other seat, so Derek could get behind the wheel, his new friend hesitated. And actually proposed that he should drive. Pyro gave a quick laugh. He'd been driving drunk a few times, and the fact that he was still alive to tell the tale, clearly meant that he was able to. But, he was more than a bit tipsy tonight, and a reasonable human being wouldn't even let him drive a bike. The fact that he still cared about these things, meant that he wasn't completely wasted yet, but still... "Derek... shut up and drive. You know how to, right?" He shot the Asian a worried glance.

“So you lived on the streets before this?” he said. He did feel somewhat bad for Pyro living on his own. But, then again it must be the same for many other mutants here. Derek was on his own aswell for a time, though not on the streets. When Pyro told him to drive again, this time more persistant, Derek then took into account that Pyro was drunk. Though now he seemed a litle bit more sober now then when he first saw Pyro.
Derek just gave a small sigh befor getting into the driver seat. “I suggest you put on a seat belt.” He said looking at the opened garage door. Without much further warning, he stepped on the pedle making the tires screech before the car actually moved.
He only hoped that Pyro wouldn’t heurl before they get to their destination.
(OOC: lets forward to when we get to where we want to be. You pick where we end up being in the city XD)

oot: Okay! Here we go then...
The view alone was pretty spectacular. They were in a roof top bar/club with huge windows in a new high rise building in the old industrial area of Long Island City, right next to the East River. On the other side were the gleaming lights of Manhattan, on this side it was a huge party. Loud music, lots of people, lots of alcohol and the occasional whispered offer of other more effective drugs.
Pyro had been here before, because it was usually fairly easy to pick up a girl to fuck. The more drunk and stoned they were, the easier it got - course it helped that he himself was easy on the eye and pretty cool in general. Derek, of course, was not cool. But he was good looking, so the fire mutant expected that he should be able to score as well, with a bit of help. He was just returning from the bar with two shot glasses full of some high percentage alcohol. Derek was still standing where he had left him, right next to one of those large windows with the spectacular view. He wondered if the Asian even had looked towards the other side yet, at the party, and the many scantily dressed girls.
"Here", he held out one glass to Derek, then the other to make a toast. "To an exciting New Year!" he announced, and drank it down in one big gulp. "So, how do you like it? Seen anyone yet you wanna get to know a bit closer?"

Derek looked around the room after Pyro’s question on whether or not he was interested in anyone. “I think I’ll pass on this one,” Derek said. He wasn’t feeling so well. In fact, he felt like he was going to pass out soon. For the exciting idea of having a New Year, Derek wasn’t feeling it. Instead he was feeling somewhat light headed. “I think I need to use to use the restroom,” he said slowly getting up and making his way you the restroom. Once he got inside he quickly washed his face. Derek looked in the mirror and noticed his eyes were baggier than usual. It was then he noticed something strange in the mirror. His right eye was beginning to tear up green tears.
Derek quickly swatted the green liquid away and closed his right eye. He was losing control over suppressing his abilities. To make matters worse, he was at a party full of people. “What a day to start off the new year…” Derek mumbled as he ran out of the restroom with one hand covering his right eye to prevent anyone from noticing the green liquid.
Little did he know that by the time he made it back to where Pyro was, his abilities were again suppressed. “We need to get out of here quickly,” Pyro said. Then a lady approached Derek and said “Do you have something in your eye?” Before he could do anything the lady pulled his arm away. “Seems normal to me,” the lady said.
Derek quickly touched his cheek. Was he imagining the whole thing? “Pyro you didn’t by any chance add some alcohol in my drink did you?” For once Derek hoped Pyro said yes. It would at least put some stress off of him about losing control of his abilities.
(OOC: sorry for the long wait. Life issues you know)

John sighed when Derek not only showed no interest in the party or the girls but actually quickly excused himself to go to the restroom. He had kind of hoped that he would be able to get the Asian in the spirit of things but there wasn't much progress. Well, at least he had drunk the shot but he'd probably need a few more of those to lighten up.
While Derek was gone, Pyro looked around and already set his eyes on a girl he would try to ensnare tonight. Honestly, at some point, he wouldn't care anymore what Derek would do meanwhile...
But then, he suddenly returned - and wanted to leave. John frowned and just wanted to reply a bit annoyed when a woman showed up and grabbed the Asian in a singularly strange hook-up move about him having something in his eye. But hey, better that then nothing, right? Pyro smirked when the woman started to touch Derek who seemed slightly confused. "Yeah, he's totally normal, I can assure you", John explained to the woman. "You definitely want to get to know him", he assured her, smiling, trying to exude confidence.
Then he stepped closer to Derek and whispered over the noise. "Of course that was alcohol, jeez...", he shook his head. "Now grab the bull by the horns and...", but in the middle of the sentence he stopped himself. Derek would never take the initiative. But the woman might. He looked at her. "He really would love to dance with you", he shoved him over to her, hoping that she would take care of the rest.

Derek shot Pyro a glare. He knew Derek shouldn’t get drunk. It will make his ability a lot harder to control. But, Derek didn’t want to ruin the moment. At least not yet. Derek may not be the fun kind of person, but he prefers not to rain on parades before giving them at least a head start. Just then Pyro said something ensure Derek’s vengeance when they get back. To dance. “But, but I don’t do… dance,” Derek replied. But he was too late. Before he knew it, he was standing in front of a half drunk lady. He looked over to Pyro somewhat confused and lost.
“You need another drink,” The lady said or at least that is what Derek thought what she said. It was quite hard to hear anyone with the loud music in the background. Derek then began to move his arms a little in hopes of blending in more. Man, how he felt like an idiot. Quick, look around observe how others dance. It was actually going quite nicely. Well, In Derek’s eyes that is. He couldn’t really tell much because, sad to admit, he never been to a party in a long time.
But, as luck would have it, fate intervened in his fun with a large arm on his shoulder. Apparently, the drunken lady was already taken. “Back off, pipsqueak” Derek was paralyzed to what was going on. So much for a carefree night.

As Pyro had hoped, the lady took the initiative, and seconds later Derek found himself across her on the dance floor, moving awkwardly. The fire mutant sighed, it looked a bit pitiful but the Asian was still cute enough to pull this of. The woman remained interested and even organized him another drink. Good, excellent.
John allowed himself to look for this girl he had picked before, but the place was really crowded now, and he couldn't see her. Then he got distracted by something happening on the dance floor. Some large guy, moving in behind Derek, putting his hand on his shoulder, saying something. Of course it was far too loud to have the foggiest idea what it was but it didn't look too friendly. Without hesitating, he moved in and stood next to the two just seconds later. "Is this guy bothering you, Derek?"
He looked up at the other man. He was taller, wider but also drunker and quite probably no mutant. In other words, he had no chance if it came to a fight. Pyro put up a slightly provocative smile. "You didn't wanna dance with Derek here, did you? I don't think he is into that kind of thing..."

Sure Derek was intimidated by the large figure. But, for some reason, he didn’t was to just walk away from this. Maybe it was the extra kick from the alcohol or maybe it was something else. No matter what it was, Derek felt like something must be done. Suddenly, Pyro appeared next to him out of nowhere. If Derek didn’t know any better, he would think that Pyro had super speed. “No, there must be some misunderstanding. No worries,” Derek said patting the large guy on the shoulder.
Little did the guy know that Derek had slipped one of his gloves off and that Derek was a mutant. That’s right; Derek had just given the guy a heavy dose of the flu. Derek may not have a lot of control over his ability. But, he can at least it to “Painful but not deadly” mode. Derek then walked toward the table he sat at and sighed. He looked over to see if Pyro had followed him or if he had decided to stay over there and be in firing range.
Derek looked back at his watch. “5…4…3…2…1” said Derek in a low tone. Without warning, the large guy started to feel dizzy and then barfed on the guy next to him. The sweet taste of vengeance. He then took another drink. He never felt so alive in his life. If it weren’t for the fact that he was restraining his abilities, he could of gone wild at this party.

To John's considerable surprise, Derek actually held his ground. And not only that, he seemed very confident he could handle the situation by himself. The large guy was obviously as surprised as Pyro about this, because initially he didn't really react to anything. Probably he was really drunk, Pyro assumed. Then Derek marched off towards an empty table, and mere seconds later the guy started to puke all over the place.
Pyro quickly jumped backwards, looked at Derek who seemed very pleased with himself, then realized what just had happened. The Asian had used his powers! Even quicker he backed off from the guy, who caused quite some chaos, and approached the table. "So you can be tough and nasty if you want to...", there was a new respect in John's eyes while he said that. "Good, really good. I just hope that stuff is not too contagious..." He had been standing pretty close.
And the lady had arrived at the table too, now. She apologized for her 'stupid friend' and seemed even more interested in Derek. John smirked. "You've made an impression", he said, bowing down close to Derek's ear. "Go for it!"
