Jean opened the door to the rec. room, finding it scarce of students, who were likely in class or outside. Dressed in a simple business suit, another outfit she found in the back of a forgotten closest, the red haired female entered the large room to find relaxation. Touring the school, she already met a few interesting student whom she had not met yet and found their abilities to be extraordinary. It was tough trying to fit into her old role as a mentor after everything that has happened, to desperately trying to make an attempt; Jean wanted to be part of the Professor dream so that mutants can live together with humans.
Jean walked across the floor, hearing very little activity in the rec. room. Liking the silence, she decided to take it easy by sitting on a nearby chair. Multiply times she came across a room that felt familiar, but for some phenomenal reason this room seemed the least recognizable and it came to her attention she might have not used this room often in the past. Well, making up for lost time she sat and wondered in her mind how the professor could deal with all the students, some came from abusing homes and some even had trauma that disabled them from fully understanding and mastering their powers. For one thing, Jean hoped for the best she might be able to help those students one day, alongside the Professor.

The one who had dubbed himself Handprint had a free period since he was still new here at the school. He had moved a day or so ago but hadn’t made any friends yet. He hoped he would do, though the fact that he was mute may put off some people. So far he had met several students and two were crazy. Ok, going a bit far but one girl had ripped a dummy apart. He knew one guy had ice powers and one girl had very unusual powers: metal nails, enhanced senses and the ability to heal.
Justin knew he’d meet many more students who’s powers were much more cooler than his – he just didn’t know when. One of the rooms that he had been shown during the orientation was the Rec Room, which he was going into now. Not many students were here – probably due to having class or being somewhere else. He noticed a beautiful red-headed woman just sitting there. He decided that he’d sit down beside. So, he got a card out.
Excuse me, do you mind me sitting beside you?

Deep in thought, the room peaceful and quiet, Jean did not notice another person in the room until she caught a glimpse of something from the corner of her eye. Taking a glance, she saw a young man, perhaps in his teens holding out what to seem a card. She looked at the card, the blond-haired boy held out, Jean noticed it said Excuse me, do you mind me sitting beside you? The psychic mutant shook her head in response, showing him that she did not mind, as she glided to make room for him.
Taking a look at him, she noticed he had a bag. Jean wondered if he might have been deaf or mute, or perhaps just shy. He had green eyes and just first impressions, he also seemed well mannered. Jean smiled warmly after inviting him to sit; she grew curious about him and decided that it might not hurt to learn more.
“Are you a student?” Jean quietly asked, wondering if she might be talking to a deaf person and might seem like she was talking to herself. But all she could do was test and see if she could communicate with him, without scaring him or discomforting him in the process.

Justin smiled as the woman shifted over to allow him room. The woman’s hair was a fiery red – the kind of red that would make it seem like her hair was actually on fire if it were in the sun. She had a nice presence – warm and friendly. He figured she must be a staff member – she didn’t look like a student. He looked at her when she asked if he was a student. That was odd – shouldn’t she know of the new students? Well, no matter. He would tell her. The disabled mutant nodded and smiled. He put the card back and showed the woman another.
Hi, I'm Justin Grant, and am mute. I'm new here.
He knew this card always worked. He had another card with just his name and the fact that he was mute. This always made them rethink their opinion of him, which in a way, was good and bad. He wondered what this woman’s name was. For some reason he’d like to get to know her.

Jean glanced over, as the young boy brought out another card for her to read. This time the card introduced him as Justin Grant, which he was mute and he was new at the school. The woman nodded understanding, but not having ever met a mute before. She did not known American Sign Language and wished she had other ways to communicating such as, telepathy but two reasons stopped her. First, scaring off the blond-haired boy wasn’t such a bright idea and second, she had to improve her abilities before they went out of control again.
“It’s nice to meet you, Justin. My name is Jean Grey.” Jean introduced herself, not in the least uncomfortable talking to someone who couldn’t reply verbally. She stared at his cards for a quick second, thinking that Justin must have thought about everything to have laminated cards that might be reply to about every question she could ask. “You’re well prepared, I see.” Jean noted, pointing to his cards. “It’s an unusual trait in new students. Normally, they think of things until after they remembered they forgot something.” Justin seemed like a bright kid, no matter that he could not use his voice.
“Are you enjoying her stay here?” Jean asked, thinking it might be fun to have a conversation with him.
