The New Girl In Town [Open]

A young girl, around the age of 17, walked into the mansion with her head low and her hair covering her face. She didn't know what to do or say now that she was here, so she decided to do what always calmed her, she took out her pet rat and started to cuddle it as she stood near a shadow. The rat sniffed at the girl's cheek, as if it knew that her mistress was nervous, the rat let out a small snuffling noise which caused her mistress to smile. The girl raised her head to take in the mansion from the inside, she'd saw how huge it was from the outside but was totally gob smacked from the inside of the place.

The girl slowly made her way forward, to where she saw another student she was guessing, and gently tapped them on the shoulder.

"H-Hello, could you please direct me to Xavier's office?" She asked, lowering her head again as her rat climbed onto her shoulder where it sat quite content.

Kitty blinked, feeling a tap on her shoulder. She'd paused for a moment, shuffling her Ipod playlist before continuing to the Danger Room for further training. Lockheed, her baby purple dragon, sat on her shoulder, humming to the music blasting out of one earbud drapped around his long, purple neck. She was an X-Man, young, but still considered part of the team. She was 23 now, though so short for her age. She was one of the more understanding X-men, without being arrogant or above others. Kitty was simple, sweet and friendly.

She turned and frowned, the girl was new, so shyness was understanding. But not to look her in the eye? Kitty wouldn't have it. She held a gentle finger under the girl's chin to raise her face to look at her. Kitty offered a warm, friendly smile.

"Of course, I can." She offered her hand in a shake. "I'm Kitty, they call me Shadowcat on the team." Lockheed yipped his hello, Kitty giggled. "And this is my friend, Lockheed." She took note of the small rat in the girl's hand. "He's cute, what's his name?"

The girl smiled, shaking Kitty's hand when it was offered to her, she was a little surprised to see a dragon on Kitty's shoulder but she should have known better than to be surprised, after all this was a school for mutants.

"My name is Courtney, but my code name is Shakko." She replied, "this is my friend Sheena, she's a bit more social than me." Courtney said as Sheena ran down her arm to sniff at Kitty's hand, deciding that Kitty would be a good friend, Sheena let out a small squeak and licked her on the hand before climbing up onto her shoulder opposite Lockheed. "She likes you." Courtney said with a smile as she saw Sheena climbing onto Kitty.

Kitty let out a giggle and petted Sheena softly. "She's really pretty." Lockheed flapped his wings and leaned his long neck down to sniff at Courtney's hair. He did a sort of happy noise as he tilted his head this way and that, tail swinging. "Lockheed likes the smell of your hair." She laughed again.

"Come on, Xavier's office is this way." She slipped her Ipod into her pocket. "So what's your power, if I may ask?" Her voice sounded sweet and welcoming.

Courtney gently stroked under Lockhead's chin as he reached out his head to sniff her hair, the smile on her face growing wider as she did so. "My power is a form of lycanthropy, only I don't turn into a werewolf just a wolf, or I can enlarge my canines if I'm annoyed at someone to snarl at them." She said, looking back at Kitty. "What is your power? If you don't mind me asking." She asked, curious about everything and everyone in this huge mansion.

Sheena started to nibble playfully on Kitty's headphones, she didn't mean any harm but she was just happy to have found a new toy to play with.

Kitty chuckled at Sheena, "You can have them as a chew toy whenever you're around me, they're just Lockheed's pair." Lockheed swivled around to look at the rat with a snarl. "Play nice, Lockheed, you only use one anyway." He grumbled and wrapped his tail around Kitty's neck.

"Lycanthropy, eh? I've read up on that quite a lot. I always wanted to see what it was like to be a wolf. They're beautiful creatures." She offered Courtney a smile and continued down the hall. "My ability is simple, usually, but it recently got kind of....complicated." She let out a sigh and continued to explain. "I can phase, splitting up atoms and speeding them up so I can move through objects, or people. And lately, I've been developing new ones that I haven't quite gained control over. I can phase my hand through someone's head and send them unconscious or phase into them and control their body as if it were my own." She sighed. "But I haven't gotten anywhere near controlling it."

Sheena scurried along Lockheed's tail and snuggled up beside him, squeaking innocently as she did so and looked up at him with her huge, black eyes that just shone with innocence. She licked him on the leg and curled up to go to sleep at his feet, half hiding in Kitty's hair.

"It is so much fun being a wolf, feeling the wind in your fur as you run through a forest is just breathtaking and being able to howl out in the open areas when you are just so annoyed at something that you just can't let it out as a human in a scream, instead you can turn it into a melody." Courtney said, her eyes sparkling as she talked of what all she could do in her wolf form, she obviously enjoyed her mutation as she counted it as a true blessing. "Your power sounds really cool, just don't go trying to control me, knock me out though if I get a bit out of control." She said, giving off an almost wolf like smile, she was starting to like Kitty and the fact that Kitty had gotten Sheena's approval was more than enough evidence to show her that Kitty would be a great friend. Courtney was starting to turn into her hyper self, normally a totally mental situation.

"I would love to be able to phase through things, just to pull pranks on people on April Fool's day or Halloween." Courtney said, giggling slightly.

Kitty let out a blissful sigh as Courtney spoke of the joys of being a wolf. "That sounds amazing, I might just have to go against your wishes though. I wish I could see what that is like." She laughed teasingly and took Courtney's wrist lightly. She liked her, simple and sweet and Kitty knew there was another side to the shy girl that Kitty would love to see more of. "Come one, I'll show you what it's like." She turned and phased them through the wall to the other hallway. It was a simple task to Kitty, speeding up her atoms and changing the molechular code of the wall if only for a moment. They landed on the other side smoothly and Kitty let go of Courtney's wrist. "Well?"

"Wow, that felt weird, but really cool." Courtney said, giggling and jumping up and down, clapping her hands. "Can we do it again?" She asked, starting to turn into a hyper, more confident girl as her eyes sparkled. "Please? Please, please, please, please." She kept on saying, hoping that Kitty would say yes.

Kitty laughed and Lockheed let out little chortles of happiness. She took Courtney's hand again and phased through the wall back to the hallway. Leading her down the hall past several doors, she phased in one and out again, having disrupted a class.

"Oops," She mumbled with a grin. She led them to Xavier's office and phased them in one final time. "Here you are, dear. Let me know if you ever need anything else. And relax a little more, you're around friends here." Kitty gave Courtney a warm hug and waved good bye, allowing Sheena to climb back to Courtney before phasing back out and on to her next class.

Courtney smiled, giving Kitty a hug back. "I'll try to relax, I'll probably be seeing you around a lot." She said giggling, waving as Kitty left. "See you later Kitty," she called as she turned to face the desk, seeming to automatically go back to shy mode without Kitty there for a bit of hyper support.
