"Strange things happen in the nighttime hours
Yesterday's buds, tomorrow's flowers
Those who speak numbers, refuse the great forgiver
Powerful men raise your hands and deliver."

It was rather early. Eight AM early in fact. The sun was out and shining brightly, casting a warm glow onto the humans and mutants below and making up for the snap in the air from the chilly wind. The night before Abel had gone to bed fairly early and planned to wake up early to go for a long walk. Even though she preferred to go out at night, sometimes the morning was better. The air was crisp and fresh, the leaves especially crunchy, the sun bright and comforting. Abel took a deep inhale then exhaled, watching her breath swirl in front of her then vanish. A small meow sounded behind her. The kitten she'd found a while ago was still with her. For some reason he followed her everywhere she went. He didn't need a leash or anything like some cats did. It was strange.
Unable to get rid of the rascal, Abel affectionately called the black kitten Salem after the black cat from Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Most would consider a black cat following you around to be back luck, but Abel took the company willingly. Having Salem around would be better than being alone, plus she could talk all she wanted to him and he would never disagree or talk back. Not that Abel actively talks to her cat like he's human...
"Oh, young cardinals
Nesting in the trees
Oh, hear our song
And reign your innocence on me."

And reign your innocence on me."
Alexsisonfire blasted from Abel's earbuds and she bobbed her head just a little bit to the beat, humming along. Central Park was rather deserted, at least for the moment. Coming up to a water fountain, Abel glanced around quickly and sat down on a wooden bench, crossing one leg over the other. While no one was here, she was going to have some fun. She pulled out one of the earbuds just for safe measure should anyone see her and focused her attention on the large fountain in front of her. Her eyes narrowed slightly and slowly a patch of water from the fountain began to rise and swirl. She smiled, proud of herself and glad she was able to get her powers under control. The water separated itself from the rest of the fountain and formed a sphere in the air in front of the mutant. Suddenly, the ball froze and hardened then fell to the ground, shattering into pieces. Abel laughed. This was somewhat amusing for her. Although being a mutant caused her own mother to kill herself, Abel loved that she was capable of doing such amazing things.
A sign escaped her lips and she looked down at the ice, watching it melt instantly. She didn't want ice just laying around.
