Like Clockwork (Kayla)

It was any other day at the mansion, nothing but training and studying. But, at least there was plenty of time for fun too. Sleep, not so much. But, he was use to that. He was Mike Lane, Supercaliy. And everyone around school knew that Supercaliy barely slept. It was amazing he had the energy to use his powers sometime. Unlike that time to over worked himself on a mission, after getting no sleep at all, and he passed out. Luckily, it was just an other danger room session. Just like where he was now. Mike was training with Kayla, as usual. Although she had a power that revolved around the subconscious, she was pretty kick ass even when awake. Sometimes scarier too. She could haunt you in your dreams, keep you trapped and terrorize you, if she really wanted too. But, she didn’t She was an X-men after all. When she was awake, she was kind of like a ninja, she had all the moves.

So, they were in the danger room. It looked more like a jungle. The session reminded him of The Incredible, when Dash and Violet were running through the woods, trying to get away from the villains. Well, this was just like that. But, instead of villains, they were just robots. Mike was running away, past the trees. Kayla was right in front of him. When they came to a small clearing, a huge robot started charging for them with massive claws. Kayla had stopped, and Mike gasped, quickly trying to get in front of her, “Mastergirl, watch it!” he yelled, as soon as he cut in front, he raised his hands and a force field projected all around them. The claws could not penetrate the field, and as he focused he asked, “What should we do? I can let go and turn us invisible, but then what!?” he asked her, trying to focus on keeping the force field up long enough for her to answer him.

It was an incredible normal day which meant for Kayla as boring. Being trained all her life had caused her to always be on her toes and she could never forget her training. She was forced to learn so much in so little time and expect to have it mastered in a snap. The reason for her code name being Mg as in Mastergirl. For most of her life she was an experiment, created only to find out a cure for the mutants that had started rising in the world. But now she was free of that and training was always a breeze. As much as she didn't like to train all that much anymore, she had to keep up her strength and agility in case she ever was involved with an unfair fight.

Now she was in the danger room, involved with the x-men, and keeping up her strength just as she had to. She was running in front of Mike in the jungle simulation. She must of ran through this course about ten times at least while she was here already. She knew it like the back of her hand. As she ran she kept thinking of what came next and what weak points on the robot were. She stepped back as Mike came around with a shield. "We attack the weak points. If we split up and go around to the sides or back then we can defeat it faster." Kayla said simply. She was ready to go already. "Tell me which side you want and I'll go the opposite way."

Mike didn’t have to wait long before Kayla told him that they could attack from the side, and that’s what was going to break it down. Mike and Kayla had a humorous relationship. Kayla got him out of a jam and was their was he was recruited here to the institute. H couldn’t really control his powers, and Kayla was assigned as his like, tour guide. Ever since that they clicked. It wasn’t till later, that they learned that they had a lot more in common then they thought. It just so happens, that Kayla’s half sisters Anna and Victoria were also Mike’s cousins from his father’s side. Anna and Victoria mentioned they had an older sister named Kayla, but he didn’t put it all together till they were all in the same room. “How do I take it down, exactly!? Do I turn enviable and rip something out?” He asked, almost lost in this simulation.

He couldn’t hold the force field for much longer, and had to wait till Kayla told him what he should do, until he let go. “I’ll go left!” He said. Then he quickly turned invisible, and let the force field go. With the field gone the robot’s claws had nothing hold it back, and it went forward, right into the ground. Mike ran around it, in his invisible form, and hopped up on it’s side. He did what Kayla told him to do and before he knew it, it was de-powered. It fell to it’s side, the same side Mike was hanging on, but he quickly leaped off and tumbled into the dirt. He become visible again as he walked towards Kayla and the danger room went back to being normal again. “I think that went pretty well. Anything else for today?” Mike asked as he patted his hands, but then remembered nothing was really there, so he quickly stopped.

Kayla had never knew about her family while she was in the lab. When she was there, she had no self esteem from the scientists that would put her down every single day for a long time. It had bothered her for awhile. Then she just got use to it and it didn't bother her. But now that she was out, she had learned quite a bit from being at the institute in such a short time as it seemed to her. Maybe it was fate that Kayla ended up getting Mike to welcome him to the institute and all. Though she didn't really believe in fate. Just coincidence was all. Kayla was happy though and that's all that mattered and ever mattered to her. "Hit all of the small blue circles." She said while stressing that it was important to hit them. "Every last one of them."

Once Mike had told her which way he was going in, Kayla turned to the right and started sprinting to the side of the machine. She then jumped on the side and began to hit the blue circles that would slowly start to shut the robot down and end the simulation. She jumped off the side of the robot as it started to fall and turned to face it and Mike. It didn't take the room long to appear as it normally would when a simulation was not on. "I believe it did too." Kayla then began to walk towards the doors that led into the hallway and thought for a short moment. "That's it until the next training session which can be either tonight or early tomorrow morning. I haven't fully decided yet on when the next session should take place."

Mike was excited to get through another training simulation, it just meant he was just one more step closer to becoming an X-Men like kayla. Anna had finally gotten their too. Mike, Ollie, and Anna were still trying to push themselves so they could be X-Men oo. It was kinda ironic how they were all connected, fighting for the same goal. "Tomorrow sounds pretty good, not like I'll have anything better to do." he esxplained, his hands in the pockets of his uniform. He loved his uniform, it was so.. him.

Kayla nodded her head. "Okay then first thing tomorrow morning we'll train." She thought of bringing in her half sister, Anna, to come train with the two of them. It would be a slight change but one that Kayla didn't mind. She had started to like hanging out with her siblings ever since she had gotten use to them. "Bring a friend with you want to." She said while thinking she knew who he would bring. If not her brother Ollie, then it could turn out to be anyone else. Mike was friendly like that. "But don't be late." Kayla would hate if she had to wait on him and his friend to get down to the danger room and she didn't really have that much patience when it came down to it. She got a couple of rough scratches from that before and she was still learning how to be patient. It was going to take her a bit to learn it though.
