Death knew that Faith possibly could smell his hunger for power coming off him, which was to be expected to happen. He of course cared for her and knew she might have not liked it but he thought it was for the best. He thought if he gained more power she didn’t have to fight anymore, he could do all the fighting for the both of them. She didn’t have to lift a finger and he’d make sure she was safe for as long as they were together. And to gain such power was his goal, or at least was a goal deep in the darkest parts of his mind. The hunger for power was growing more and more as he thought of the good he could do with it. He wondered how it would affect him and Faith as he went searching for this power, would she support him.
But then he got his answer when he heard her response to his statement of gaining the power to be able to protect her. He sort of knew she would feel that way, and for now he would comply with what she wanted. They finally got to see each other, he wasn’t going to ruin it with a power hungry trip and the search for power could continue on a later date. Hopefully he hoped that Faith would understand that the power was going to help them both in the long run. His evil demonic smirk went away and he smiled a bit with his eyes returning back to the normal red. “Don’t worry Faith, I won’t leave you alone anymore, I’ll remain here with you”. He then pulled back a bit and kissed the side of her head as he looked into her eyes.

Faith knew how the hunger of power can change a person. She knew what it could do to them. It didn’t take a new person to the facility to know what she can do, and then see them go power hungry with idea on how to test her, make her life miserable. Not once did they ever get to know her, before letting that hunger consume them. It turned them sadistic, and mad as they looked at her. She knew they saw money, and greed as they watched her ace all the physical challenges brought before her. She swallowed as her mind raced through the possible outcomes of his power craving, and she didn’t know how far he would go. She knew that he didn’t want her lift a finger and fight any more, but did he know that is a part of who she was? She was a fighter, and was in her element in the middle of a battle. It was what they created her for, and it was what she lived for.
“Don’t worry Faith, I won’t leave you alone anymore, I’ll remain here with you”
She sighed heavily as she listened to him. He didn’t seem to understand what she was trying to tell him. She felt him kiss the side of her head and gave a small smile in return. She pulled away and looked into his eyes, and searched them for the longest moment. ”Chris, I’ve seen people change from that hunger. It is not a question of you staying with me. It is a question of you changing who you are. We both have changed since we were kids, but not much. What I sense in you now, will change you. I am frightened of the end result… My experiences in what happens are not good…” She told him as she pulled away some more, and turned back to face the lake. She stared at the water lapping against the shore for a bit, and then looked up to the sky.
Faith was taught to guess the time of day, just by looking at the sun’s position across it. She guessed it was pretty close to meet her father for her first lesson, but she didn’t want to leave Chris without him understanding her. ”Please understand that if you do go down this path, and you do get out of control, I will stop your hunger. I don’t want to hurt you, but I will if you leave me no choice. If you think that gaining it will make me stop fighting, please know that fighting is a part of who I am. It was what I was made for, it is what I crave…” She told him with feeling, and honesty.

Death was aware that Faith must have known about the hunger in him, seeing as she basically was surrounded by it all the time. But his was different Death would tell himself, his was to protect her, to make sure she was alright. He would try and reason that it was okay, even though he knew that Faith didn’t like it so much. He then listened to her sigh and pulled from him more as she looked into his eyes as if searching for something. Death wondered what this was about; she seemed to want to make sure he understood what she was talking about. He did in a sense, but that hunger still hovered over him, he couldn’t help it. The Dark Matter in him gave him that hunger, they were made out of black holes after all and black holes eat forever with a consistent hunger. Death in return was made no different than a black hole, wanting to feed off the power of others. But he can control it to a certain extent for now, trying to suppress it for Faith.
He then listened to Faith give her explanation of how she seeing people change from that hunger and didn’t want him to change. He saw that she was frightened by the end result, though she must have had a different end result then he did. Death imagined when he got the power, he would make sure no one touched Faith, and they would be something that the government feared. To him, he wasn’t going to be that way; he wasn’t going to get corrupted with the power. But before he could get a word out to her she pulled away some more and turned to the lake. He watched as she looked to the lake, then back up to the sky watching the clouds. Death looked to the back of her head and breathed out a bit, he didn’t know what she was thinking and it most likely was a worry thought.
Death then continued to listen to her as she continued to lay her thoughts out to him, such as if he went down this path and got out of control she would stop his hunger. He smiled a bit, as she went on to lay her thoughts out to him, telling him that fighting was in her nature. Death knew this, but he hoped that that would be the problem if she had no reason to fight anymore. But it seemed he was wrong, and she wasn’t going to stop about his hunger. “I understand Faith, you don’t have to explain yourself over again, I know what you mean”. She seemed to be in a hurry for some reason and he thought it must be the training she mentioned earlier. He walked up to her as she continued to watch the lake and kissed the back of her head before putting the bandages over his mouth and nose again. Death then turned around and covered himself with the cloak, covering his face with the hood and walking.

Faith let nature over take her as she talked, letting it calm her animal inside. She found it that it didn’t quite rage when she was outdoors as if being inside was like being locked in a cage. She should have known as she was locked inside of one most of her life. She seemed to find it easier to control herself outside in the open. It was as if being outside gave her a freedom that she craved most of her life. She was like an animal after all, and her instincts has saved her many times. She was born to fight, and survive. But hers was more ingrained in her than a normal person, and she wondered if Chris understood that.
She closed her eyes as her thoughts wondered about this hunger he was so intent on satisfying with gaining more power. She understood his need to protect her, but she didn’t want him to go about this way. She was basically a wild animal that someone had tried to tame, and like all wild animals they fight with everything. It was who she was, and if she couldn’t fight any longer than she didn’t know what she would do. She looked up to the sky again and noted the time. She had to get going, but she didn’t know if Chris knew what she knew.
“I understand Faith, you don’t have to explain yourself over again, I know what you mean”
Faith felt him kiss the back of her head, and her hand automatically sought him out. Bandages and all. She wasn’t going to give up on him just yet. Another part of her that lives close to the surface. She promised herself that she was going to have to keep a close eye on him, just to make sure he doesn’t lose control of that hunger. ”Chris, you promise me you’ll control this hunger.” She called after him as she turned around to see his retreating back. Once he gives her his word, she’ll drop the subject and head to meet her father.

After Death kissed her forehead and knew she must have turned around to embrace him again. But by the time she did that he was already a few steps away, too far for her to hug him. He wondered of his hunger for power and how far it would take him. Death knew Faith didn't like it but it was a part of him. He could surpress it for a short time but in the end it would come out and show its true colors in the end. At least with Faith here, he can put it down for a long while and not have it creep out of his mind. But he knew at some point it would reach out and take whatever power he was granted. He hoped however that Faith is going to be there to be able to knock him out of that little power trip. As he was facing away from Faith, his eyes glowed and the dark matter steamed off of him. His cloak was covering him by now and it flew against the wind as it blew it up.
He then heard her speak, she told him to promise her that he wouldn't let the hunger consume him. Death turned his head to her, lowering his bandages from his mouth for a moment. His eyes returned to normal quickly as she gave her a smile. "No worries Faith, I won't I promise you". Then turning away he put the bandages back on over his face and nose and started to walk again. Before long he was out of sight.

Faith watched as he pulled his bandages back down and promised her that he wouldn’t allow the hunger to consume him. She smiled her thanks at him, and watched as he walked back toward the mansion. She watched him until he disappeared from her sight, and then took one last look around her before walking back herself. She needed to meet her father, and so that he can gauge her true skills and abilities in this danger room. As she made her way to the rendezvous point, she smiled as she knew he would be in for a surprise at watching her work. {Thread done}
