Nick had had enough, he was ready to be free of his curse, Xavier had offered to help before, but Nick had been scared before, now he was ready to get rid of them. Nick knew something dangerous was brewing, and he could no longer be burdened by Sunrider and Darkside, though Sunrider was the main problem, Darkside was much weaker. Nick walked into Xavier's office and was surprised to see Rogue there, he had heard something had happen to Charles, but Nick had assumed it was useless gossip, not truth.

Rogue had been working through more paperwork when she heard the office door open. She glanced up in surprise to see Nick there. She remembered him from the files. She had spent so many hours studying every file so she could identify every mutant here by their face with a name. She wanted to know them, and of course it would be safer if she knew everyone who was supposed to be here. It would be easier to spot an enemy person if she could not recognise them. She smiled warmly at Nick and put her paperwork aside before gesturing to the seat infront of her desk.
"Please sit down Nick. How may ah help you? Ahm sure ya have heard ah'll be filling in for Xavier until he recovers, which he will, so don't worry about that. This is just temporary."
Rogue spoke softly, wanting to reassure Nick everything was going to be okay. She wanted the students to feel safe and to believe Xavier would be okay. She didn't need them to panic and it would not be good for their health.

So the rumors were true Xavier was out of the picture, Nick was about to leave, when a thought occurred to him, Rogue had the unique ability to weaken and individual, and though she was 2 years his younger she was far more experienced with her powers, and could probably help Nick.
"Right before the I graduated from the school, the Professor offered to help me remove my extra personalities, but at the time I was scared to be alone, and thought if my mind was ever weakened or lost they could take over an at least i'd live on, but now I feel something evil is stirring and I feel that I must be rid of one of both of them so that I can dedicate more of my power to the greater good, instead of having to split it between my mind and the world. But since the rumors are true I guess he can't help me. But I just had a thought and I figured maybe if I let my day personality Sunrider take over, you could weaken him, and then I could destroy him completely and be rid of at least one of them." Nick didn't know whether this would work, and he was sure it wasn't the way the professor would have done it, but maybe it was destined to be this way.

Rogue listened intently as Nick spoke. She kept her hands folded on her lap as she listened. What he asked of her definately surprised her. She did understand though. Recently she had been concerned herself her psyches would take over. However, Rogue knew she was stronger at containing them then Nick was probably. At least that was what it seemed. Rogue had never wanted to use her power on anyone. She hated hurting people. However Nick really seemed to need help, and she couldn't help but want to help. She had to make sure though that Nick understood what the consequences were.
"Ah understand. Ya have to be aware Nick, my power can hurt. It won't feel... good. Its not like its excruiating pain, but ya'll feel weak very fast. If ah hold on too long ya could be put into a coma. Ya understand this?"
Rogue explained softly before adding,
"If ya are serious about this, and understand the risks we'll both be takin', then ah suggest doing this in the medical bay so if anything goes wrong we can fix it then and there. Okay?"

Nick knew what Rogue's powers could do, he'd witnessed them once or twice, but Nick wasn't afraid in fact he was counting on Rogue to weaken and hurt Sunrider in order for him to defeat him. Nick didn't like this method, but it was the only way this would ever happen, in the near future.
"Okay I'm ready I understand the risks, let's do this. I agree the medical bay would be good."

Rogue sighed softly before nodding. Getting up she led Nick out of Xavier's office. It was best to do it now while there was a chance. With everything going on there was no way to say if they would get another chance. She understood Nick wanted to get a better control over his abilities. Having two sides of one ability - two personas - must be so difficult and confusing for him. At least Rogue was used to having a lot of psyches in her head, and her mind was strong enough - and unique enough - to house them all so they had their own seperate 'room', for lack of a better word, in her mind. She went down to the medical bay and gestured to the bed. Rogue then filled in Hank on what was going to happen so he would know what he would have to do if things went wrong. Rogue then returned to Nick.
"Okay, we're ready when ya are. This is ya last chance to back out."

Nick was ready he knew the risks and he had a plan. Nick watched as Hank set up the med room. But as Nick was aware of what was happening, Sunrider was also aware now, and he'd begun cursing out Nick, and fighting back, but Nick was the more powerful mutant and in a few moments he had able to force the mutant kicking and creaming in French to the forefront of Nick's mind.
Nick's hair turned white and his violet eye turned gold, he was Sunrider now. "Salaud ne me touchez pas!" (Bastard don't touch me) Sunrider was angry, Nick held his powers back, refusing to let him hurt Rogue, there was nothing else Nick could do.

Rogue hadn't seen anything like it. Nick was genuinely a different person when he brought his Sunrider side forward. She stood in shock for a few seconds before forcing herself out of it. ignoring the french - not that she understood what it meant but had a feeling it was not good - she placed her hands on Nick's cheeks. She closed her eyes as she felt the familiar feeling of the pricking in her hands as it absorbed the energy, memories, and of course the mutant abilities. As Nick had wanted it seemed her ability was only picking up the Sunrider side of his ability, which was good. Using Wolverine's senses she listened to Nick's heartbeat. The second she could tell it was getting too slow she took her hands away. She sighed in relief as she noticed Nick seemed to still be concious. She had never done something like that before. She flinched a little as she felt her mind mentally trying to contain Sunrider into a new room it had created for him. The french she was hearing was definately a string of curses. Eventually Rogue hoped to get Sunrider's psyche on her side. Shaking her head she watched as Hank took care of Nick. It seemed like he would be okay.
"Are ya okay Nick?"

(Sunrider can create solid objects from and manipulate light, he is powerless at night, and his psyche calms down at night)
Nick barely felt the drain of Rogue's powers, but inside his mind he could sense the effect that Sunrider was feeling. In Nick's mind he could see Sunrider, but he was old and frail, now was the time for Nick to force him out of his mind for good.
Nick reached out inside his mind and struck Sunrider with a whip of light, and then again with one of shadow, Sunrider tried to fight back, but he was weak compared to Nick, Rogue had sucked away most of Sunrider's power, Nick rapped Sunrider up in a cocoon of shadow, Nick wouldn't kill his own personality, but within the cocoon he'd be completely cut off from all sources of light, and would be completely powerless.
Nick let out a sigh of relief, his mind was one third as empty, and an extremely groggy and powerless Darkside was no problem right now, for once there was quiet in Nick's head. Sunrider had been the big issue, and now he was gone. Without Sunrider Nick could easily handle Darkside, in fact he could even do it without Rogue's help.
Darkside was powerless during the day, and without Sunrider to protect him Nick easily trapped Darkside in a cocoon of light, Nick was free.
Nick looked up at Rogue, he realized she was concerned, "I'm fine, thank you so much, for the first time in 9 years my mind is free, there are no bickering brothers in there, and my mind is completely my own." Nick's mind was his own, and when Xavier got better, Nick would ask him to help him permanently deal with them, not just trap them like they are now.

Rogue inhaled deeply as she closed her eyes. She 'listened' to Sunrider, and felt his power. Light manipulation. He could create solid objects with it. Rogue knew it could be a useful power if she was right about how she kept peoples' powers somewhere in her mind. Upon hearing Nick she opened her eyes and smiled softly at Nick. She did understand completely. When she had taken the cure she no longer heard the psyche voices and could touch. The relief of that was euphoria. She wasn't sad though she was back to 'normal'. Sure, she was disappointed a little, but she knew her power was as much a part of her as her hair colour. That, and she could handle her ability. She could handle the multiple voices. She had years to do so. Her mind was programmed to deal with it. She was sure Nick's mind wasn't programmed like that. It was probably just a normal brain that had two different personalities in it, along with Nick's own. It must have caused him several migranes. She understood his reasoning for what he wanted.
"Ahm glad. Now, ah want ya to take it easy for a while and rest. Just to make sure, ya know? Ya aren't in a coma, which is good, but we don't wanna risk anything. Drink and eat plenty. Make sure ya needs aren't ignored."
Rogue spoke softly, acting like a mother. She had never noticed she did so, or that she was a natural doing so.

Nick felt so free, his mind was empty and be could sense memories he'd thought he'd lost, memories of his family and of his brother, oh his brother he remembered the day he'd been taken. Nick felt reserves of willpower float to the top. Nick was fully Nick again.
But there was something else in his mind something he'd never noticed, an untapped power that his other personalities had been blocking, but now that Nick was free he could tell there was more to his powers.
Nick looked up at Rogue, "Okay, I'll take it easy.

Rogue noticed how less tense and more carefree Nick looked. Clearly what they had done had worked. Well, what she had done. For the first time in her life she had used her power for good. She had never thought her power could be anything but a painful curse. Seeing Nick so much happier made Rogue realise there was good and bad to every ability. Clearly hers could help others a lot. It definately made her happy, and unable to help herself she leaned forward, giving Nick a warm hug. Pulling away she smiled warmly at him, glad he was agreeing to take it easy. Just seeing Nick happy made Rogue forget anything and everything else. Sure, she knew eventually she would have to deal with Sunrider in her head and his powers but for now just seeing the results of her helping someone - and with her power no less - made her feel this fluffy and fuzzy good feeling.
"I'm so happy I could help."
