Charles looked at the door one of the students had lost control and blasted the door clear of the wall. It was impressive blast to say the least the student had spent an hour crying about how sorry he was. Right now the boy was asleep in his dorm. Charles moved closer to the door frame luckily the door had taken the whole blast.
He was not made at all it was one of those things that happened when you dealt with young mutants. things had goten quiet of late. The problem was they always did before things got worse and he hopped that soon there would be no more threats coming. He knew that was a foolish dream it would be years at the very best before this happened

James could be seen walking down the stairs from the second floor with black head phones in his ears which was connected to his black i-Pod in his right hand. Since the young mutant could hear thoughts all over the world from the telepathy ability he stupidly copied from Cable, he has been trying to find a way to help block out some of the thoughts that were going through his head. At first he tried to focus most of his attention on one person, who happened to be around his own age. But unfortunately, he heard some private thoughts that were natural for anybody that is going through or has gone through puberty, but really shouldn't be heard or spoken out loud in public,
Then James turned to music in order to help block out the the thoughts after remembering an episode from Heroes where one of the characters with super hearing blocked out all of the noise around her with music. Willing to try anything, James started listening to music on his i-Pod which helped block out a lot of the thoughts coming from other people. Since Cable's telepathy is so strong, not all of the thoughts were blocked out as he listens to music, but enough was blocked for him to give him a simple peace of mind which allowed him to fall asleep faster.
However, every song doesn't block out the same amount of thoughts and the one that blocked out the most was John Lennon's song, Imagine. Not only did it block out the most thoughts, it also had a more positive effect on his mind as James thought of a peaceful world that didn't have things that caused most war, like possessions and religion.
As Imagine started playing again on his i-Pod, a peaceful smile formed on his face as he continued to walk down the stairs. Once he got to the bottom, James' jaw dropped as he noticed that door was missing from the door way with the professor in his wheel chair looking at the doorway. James would then lower the volume of his i-Pod with a simple half circular movement with his index finger and asked "Another student blew off the door?"

"yes it is the risk we run doing this so how are you holding up? It is a strange sensation is it not when you first start to hear people thoughts?" Xavier had been worried about the boy for some time cable was by far the most powerful telepath much like his mouther the only difrence with cable seamed to be that he showed no signs of a mental brake down in stead it had manifested as god complex.
It was clear that the boy had been struggling he was trying every thing to stop it. With that power it was as much a matter of will than anything else but cable had been created for that type of power and xavier had grown up with it. This boy had taken it and all that power had been dumped on him. while he had no experience on how to handle it. Xavier know how that felt it was like using ceribro the first few times were overwhelming it took him several years before he got it down to a fine art that it was now.
"if you wish i c an help you give you some tricks i used to help push it all back from me but in truth my power do not have the range of the ones you took. I hope this will also teach you to be more selective with what powers you take. While the stronger one are tempting they come at a cost."

"Yeah, it was a bit strange, especially hearing everybody thoughts at once for the first time. I couldn't comprehend anything that I heard until I started to focus more on a select group of people" explained James after Xavier asked him how he was doing and what it was like hearing thoughts for the first time. Surprisingly though, James didn't do anything else with his telepathy other than reading thoughts. Due to his power mimic ability, he knew exactly what he could do with his telepathy and how to do it, but he didn't tamper with the will and thoughts of others mostly because it just felt wrong. Sure he did have the occasional thought of using it to have a girl fall for him, but he always quickly dismissed the idea after giving it some thought.
"I know, it was pretty stupid of me to do something like that" said James knowing full well of the repercussions of copying a powerful ability. Not only was he hearing the thoughts of others all over the world, but according to Cable, the powers were slowly killing him. The professor would then offer some tricks in order to help him push all the thoughts away despite the fact tht the professor's telepathy had a range while Cable's didn't.
"Any help would be appreciated. By the way, how long did you know about my power mimic ability?" asked James getting the feeling that the professor knew about this for a long time. After all, he was a telepath that could see a person's most heavily guarded secrets.

"just think we do not know the limit of your power you could be struck with them for the rest of your life. I will arrange some class time with the other telepathic people. Do not worry about the problems we have with mind reading we use dampeners to help. It is hard but we can help you manage this but next time find out if there powers have some risk to you or them.
Long enough but it was not my place to say anything." he smiled warmly "i have technology that helps identify a mutants powers and you have a habit of broadcasting it for any telepath to hear,"
Then again life is a learning curve.

"Well it's kind of hard not to broadcast when I can hear the thoughts from all over the world" said James with a light smile. The young mutant couldn't help but trust Xavier due to the fact that he seemed genuinely concerned about his problems and he felt safe when he smiled warmly at him. Then all of a sudden, James' cell phone began to vibrate from his pocket, so he quickly took it out and opened it before closing it and putting it back in his pocket knowing full well what it meant.
"Professor, as much as I would like to test out the limits of my powers, I have a class with Cable in like a half hour and I really don't want to find out what happens to students that are late " said James who really didn't want to get on Cable's bad side. After all, the mutant from the future seemed like a driven man like most heroes who came from the future in science fiction movies. Plus he didn't know how long these tests will take.

"no his methods are truly different but he dose get the results he looks for. If you want i can give you a remote dampener i do not know how much it will work on some ones powers like yours and cables but it may soften the blow some what. but i can not say for sure." it was clear Xavier was happy with the way Cable was running his class but then he was not training them to live but to win a war that had not even started yet.. He wondered if he had maked a mistake in trusting his time traveling god son. Still he could let other see he thought this.

"What does this dampener look like anyway? Will I..... have to wear some kind of helmet?" asked James as he cringed at the thought of wearing some sort of helmet for the rest of his life. After all, people who have telepathy usually use their mind and some people, like Magneto use helmets to keep telepaths from getting into their head. Plus, he really didn't want to stand out more amongst his peers or other humans in a way where he becomes a social outcast.
ooc:Sorry about the short post.

"no It is the same technology as Eric's helmet. The device is slightly larger than a blue tooth headset. It sits in the ear and around it. It works by disrupting the part of your brain that the power come from. It dose have some side effects you will feel sick and dizzy at first but that will go in time as you get use to it. The problem is long term use can cause brain damage or other problems with the mind. SO as long you do not have it on 24/7. you should be fine just use it when it gets all to much and never for more than an hour"

"Isn't there anything that can at least last a good night's sleep that won't give me brain damage? I've been having trouble sleeping because of all of the thoughts that I can hear? asked James before yawning for a brief second. He knew that the professor was trying to help him, but he at least needed something for sleeping. But he did have to admit that the device the professor mentioned could be useful for when he needs to focus on something like a test or just needed a moment to think to himself without being side tracked by a thought he heard from California.

xavier smiled and thought about his question. " while this is a science,it is new and we do not have much work in to it. I could give you some sleeping pills but they may not do any good depends on many factors. " he felt bad for the boy but he had learned an important lesson and maybe this would teach him to think.
he sent a message to some one about the door it would be fixed soon. There was so much going on and Scott had vanished and so had most of the brotherhood that was as worrying as anything else.

How could I be so stupid about not thinking of using sleeping pills?! thought James feeling a bit stupid for not thinking about using sleeping pills. As a student, he was more concerned about getting a good night sleep so that he won't end up falling asleep in class. Especially during one of the many combat classes he has signed up for, after all you wouldn't want yourself falling a sleep when your life was in danger in the Danger room.
"Professor, does your telepathy force you hear all of the thoughts within your range?" asked James wanting to know if the professor himself suffered from this problem as well or at least had this kind of problem when he was younger.
