Steve hadn’t been sleeping well, not since he had been back if he was being honest; waking up after thinking you had sacrificed yourself to protect the people that you cared about to find out that you had done some good but the world was just as bad was not something that Steve had been happy to know he would have gladly not been unfrozen if he was being completely honest but at the same time it was not like he could control what had gone on. He had spent a lot of time in the gym, he had been made into the war weapon that he was and he was going to ensure that he had been in a condition that when they needed him that he would be ready to do it.
He had let down too many people or so he had thought, the doctor that had given him this chance, sure he had stopped the red skull but the fact that he hadn’t done that well in the job and that he had spent so much time as a block of ice didn’t exactly scream war hero did it? Then to move on to the fact that he never made it back for that dance with Peggy Steve hated himself for that if he was being honest yet it was not like he would be able to do anything about it. He was currently sitting in the cafeteria of the shield hellicarrier hoping that he would be able to find someone that could get him off of this place so he could drink.

Natasha Romanoff stood in the command center, watching what was going on, what people were doing. She was near Maria Hill, who Natasha talks to sometimes, but she usually stays clear of the woman. It wasn’t that Natasha hated Maria, she figured they were both more useful when they stayed out of each other’s way. Natasha figured everything was okay in here.
Natasha started walking down the large corridor and all she could think about was the mission, the war that was about to come with Loki and with Apocalypse. She wondered how much Loki really knew about what was going on and if he would team up with him. Thinking about the Tesseract falling into the wrong hands, the things that it could do, the planets and places that it can destroy. She wondered if they would be enough to stop everything. There was a lot that needed to be done. Natasha believed that they could do it, the few of them with the help of Thor, who seemed to just want to get his brother home.
Natasha peeked inside Dr. Banner’s lab and he wasn’t in there. She figured that he was probably off with Tony Stark trying to figure out where the Tesseract is, or she hoped that’s what he was doing. Natasha walked out of the house and she headed to the cafeteria to get something to drink. Inside she looked around and saw Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America, alone. The red haired woman walked over to the counter and got two coffees. Natasha walked in Steve Roger’s direction.
“Hey, can I join you?” Natasha asked as she held out one of the cups of coffee for Steve to take, even if he didn’t want her to stay around. As she waited for his response, Natasha had taken a sip from her own coffee.

Steve had not been expecting to be alive right now it had been something that he hadn’t factored in when he had planned to take his own life so that he could save the life of others, yet the fact that he had been brought back had been something that had somewhat thrown him off if he was being honest. It could have been called survivors guilt especially after the death of Bucky but he had been trying as best that he could to move past the death of his best friend even though it would be no means easy; not that he wanted to forget about his best friend but he had been dead for a long time now the world had probably forgotten about him, not that Steve would but he didn’t want to dwell on it Bucky had believed that he could do good as Captain America and he had to prove his friend right so that Bucky’s death hadn’t been in vain.
He had to admit that the avengers that had been assembled together to protect the world had been something that was almost out of a myth, a god a monstrous man that had been radiated, someone that was able to create a suit for himself, a couple of master assassins and himself a kid from Brooklyn that had happened upon a chance that had changed him from the small kid Steven Grant to Captain America, America’s and now the worlds defender it was almost like a dream to him and he really hoped that he didn’t wake up from the dream that he was currently in if he was being honest.
When Black Widow came over he motioned for her to sit down, he had not thought that anyone else on the team would have been up this early but he was glad to see a friendly face if he was being honest yet the fact that he was able to look after himself was something that meant he didn’t care if some of the agents didn’t like him. “Not able to sleep?” he asked.

Natasha looked at Steve and she smiled. She sat down when he had offered. Natasha Romanoff had placed his coffee cup down in the middle of the table and she had taken another sip from hers. She placed it down by where she had rested her right hand. She stared at the cup, wondering what Loki was using Clint for. She couldn’t imagine what he was doing to him. Natasha just got really upset all of the sudden. She let out a sigh and she then looked up at Steve Rogers when he asked if she wasn’t able to sleep.
“no. too much on my mind. I can guess the same for you, huh?” Natasha had asked Steve with a small smile.
Natasha took another sip of her coffee and looked at him. She wondered if he was really depressed about being here, about being unfrozen. She didn’t know much about the man, but she wanted to help in anyway. She knew what it was like to be lost. She had been lost for years before she was almost killed by Clint Barton and she then joined SHIELD. She fought along side of him and she finally realized that this is where she was meant to be. She wondered if this was where he believed that he was meant to be. She some how knew that he belonged here and she just wanted him to know that.
“how are you getting along up here?” Natasha asked, being polite. She really wanted him to feel welcome, like he wasn’t out of place here.

Steve could tell that there was something up with the young woman; anyone could see that the fact that she had seemed not herself was something that was not that hard to work out if he was being completely honest; she just didn’t seem like she was that focused, the fact that she seemed distracted was something that he had seen a lot of, he had seen it around the camp when he had been at war, it had been on Peggy’s face a fair bit when those soldiers had gone missing. Of course there had been the shield agent that had been taken by this mysterious god but he got the feeling that there was more to them than it just being because it was another agent.
When Bucky had been taken he had fought, clawed and scratched to get the man back risking his own life it hadn’t mattered to him so long as he got his friend back and he was willing to bet that this young woman would do the same, especially if he was right and that the man that had gone missing did mean something to her. When she asked if he was ok he simply shrugged.
“I can’t sleep too many nightmares,” he said with a small smile at her “I worked out in the gym most of the night then I went looking for a bar but there isn’t one on this place not that I can get drunk anyway. How about you? I mean it can’t be seeing me that has you all deep in thought right?”

Natasha Romanoff stared at the cup that contained her coffee. She was feeling this sort of guilt for not being there when Clint was taken by Loki. She felt like that if she had been there, she could have stopped it, she could have helped him. She also could have prevented a lot of deaths that were caused that day. She could have done something. She wished that she hadn’t been on that stupid mission that Fury had sent her on. Natasha picked up her coffee cup and started drinking from it. She placed it down and looked back at Steve Rogers.
Her mind was just focused on what she heard about that happened that night. She then looked at Steve when he said that he couldn’t sleep because of nightmares. Natasha nodded, knowing the feeling. She then let out a small laugh at his next statement. “a little bit of both. Wondering how your adjusting and thinking about other stuff, like Agent Barton.” Natasha said truthfully. She just wanted to get that man back, so she can repay him the debt that she owes him.
Natasha looked at Steve Rogers. “I feel like it would have gone different if I was there, like he wouldn’t have fallen under Loki’s spell or what ever it was that happened to him. I could have helped.” Natasha had said honestly to Steve. She didn’t know what to expect Steve to say to that, she really wasn’t expecting much for him to say. She really just wanted to get that out there, just say that so its off of her shoulders.
Natasha then looked at Steve oddly. "you cant get drunk?" She asked, tilting her head to the side. She was curious. The ginger haired assassin wondered if it was the super soldier thing that he had that didn't cause him to get drunk.

Steve felt completely out of his depth due to the fact that he didn’t really know any of these people; he would have done what he could to console her yet he could not do that because he didn’t know her enough to be able to console her, he had heard that she knew the agent that had been taken and he knew that it was seen as a big thing that he was gone. Yet at the same time that didn’t mean that he was able to do something about it he didn’t have a time machine where he could go back and help the other man so he was at a loss for what he could actually do in this situation of course he could help with the fight but it was not something that he would be able to do without a plan which seemingly they didn’t have.
“From what I know it wouldn’t have mattered if you had been here or not Loki sounds to be something powerful not that I know enough about what is going on to make that judgement.” He said it had been a pretty open statement but he felt that he had been able to convince her that it hadn’t been her fault it was just the fact that she had not been able to help that had made it worse if she had been here and had gotten injured herself it was a form of survivors guilt he supposed as the other man wasn’t dead just gone. When she made the comment about the drinking he just shrugged. “my physiology has been changed which makes it hard for me to get drunk I have yet to be able to.”
