Sensing her new ability to control her powers made her a bit more confident in her day to day life, but not knowing for sure how far this ‘control’ went kept her careful and in line. She still had the fear that one wrong move, or holding on too long would trigger something and all that hope would be lost. She still dressed like some sort of crazy religious nut with her skin covered as much as possible without looking as insane as she felt. But still she wondered what would happen, if just for one day she didn’t and just took that crazy chance.
Today, wouldn’t be that day. She dressed in her usual jeans and tee shirt with long gloves to top it all off. She would have usually put on a scarf or some kind of bandana around her neck but she was feeling risky today and kept it off. Though still kept her hair down. Better safe than sorry right? But still, even with the careful ways she was determined to take a risk today, and she would! By getting out and going somewhere new, with lots of people!
She wondered down the sidewalk with her arms hugging herself, trying to keep from touching anyone, even if she was covered she didn’t want to bump anyone and start trouble. She knew how people could be sometimes. When she finally reached the pub she smiled a bit. She felt good about this, normal. Though walking in made her smile fade, there were so many people here. She instantly became worried and made her way to the closest empty seat at the bar.
The nice person behind the counter asked her what she wanted, and she decided to stick with water for now. At least until she made up her mind if she would stay or not. She nervously looked around while she waited for her drink, her eyes meeting someone else’s. Instantly she looked away and back towards the counter, almost regretting her decision to go out.
