Several high-profile events have recently occurred, making the United States public both concerned and sympathetic to the plight of mutants. At the same time the American military are uneasy about the increasing deployment of mutants in foreign armed forces. In response, a reform to the Mutant Registration Act has been passed. Unlike Senator Kelly's original version, this act offers several benefits to registering mutants, and is aimed at integrating them into society. A new branch of the federal government, the Bureau of Mutant Affairs, has been created to insure the fair treatment of mutants and administer the provisions of the Act. It is two months since the bill passed, Should mutants take the government at its word? Not everywhere trusts the motives of those who created and support the bill.
