Kitty rubbed her head, "I really shouldn't read before bed." she murmured, shifting her lethargic body and feeling something in her way. It was much larger than her bear and more solid as well. And she didn't hear her music, she always put in her Ipod headphones and listened to music when she slept, it kept the nightmares away most of the time. But she didn't have those either. Slowly, the world rearranged and she blinked back sleep. Someone came into view, sitting next to her it seemed.
She blinked and Zack came into view, the voice of her dreams echoed in memory, reminding her not to say anything. "Zack?" She looked around at her room, ensuring the dream was fully washed away.

Zack looked down at her and smiled, "Are you ok?" He wondered what he should do. They weren't togther and he had only kissed her spur of the moment. He wondered if she regretted. So many things were running through his mind. He looked at her, not sure what to do. It was a bit awkward.

Kitty blinked and sat up fast, whimpering lightly as her head rushed with the motion. It wasn't a dream then, he was here. They really had been in the Danger Room and she'd really met a figure named Eternity. Eternity had said Kitty was Zack's anchor. She'd just read a novel on things called Anchors. It was by Christine Feehan, the Game series. The psychic women had male anchors that kept them sane and kept them safe. Why would Eternity grant Kitty as such a powerful place? She'd only just met Zack. Though, she felt like she knew every bit of him as much as she knew herself.
Was she okay? He'd asked if she was alright, a legitamate question though she couldn't answer well right now. No, she had to make sure she wasn't crazy. "Zack, kiss me." Her brown eyes went slightly solid, determined. She would test out her theory the only way she could.

Zack was hesitant at first but relaxed when he saw her eyes. He didn't know why but he trusted her. She seemed to know what she was doing so he decided to just trust in her judgment. However, he didn't want it to be over so quick. He looked at her for a second and gently touched her cheek. He leaned in slowly, their lips almost touching but not quiet. He smiled at how close they were. He looked into her eyes at the distance and loved what he saw. Yes, she needed to be his. He needed her. There was no denying it. He had relaxed about everything. He wasn't worried about his Mother, who his father was or who he was. Right now there was only him and her. There was only piece. Satisfied, he met her lips with hers, kissing her amorously. There was a need to his kiss, a hunger, but this time it was gentler. It was more peaceful. It was something beyond just need. He cared for her.

Kitty smiled at his hesitation but when his lips touched hers, for a moment, she'd forgotten just what she was doing for a moment. Then, the cool fingers stealing away the warmth so deep in her reminded her. She gasped and jumped back, gasping, trying to think. The shadows in Zack's eyes made it hard to think, but she had to try. How much as she not allowed to tell him? Could she tell him she was his anchor? He needed her to balance him, but how much would that take from her? To what extent would this go to save him? The cool whispers on her soul felt like they could easily, hungrily swallow her whole.
"How much...do you know...about your powers?" she choked out the words.

Zack's eyes flashed. ~She knows something~ He was about to get angry but calmed down when he looked at her. He couldn't angry at her. He sighed as he laid down beside her. "Alrightie then. I guess it is fair that you know after what happened. I'm guessing she visited you? My mother? Death. I don't know much about myself to be honest. I'm not even sure how old I am. I can remember the week before I arrived at the Mansion but nothing before that. I don't know what I am to be honest. I'm not even sure who I am. I'm Death's Kid." He smiled as the tears began to fall. He never cried so they started falling of their own free will. "They call me Reaper and Death The Kid because of my Scythes but they're more right then they know. I am Death's Kid. But the worst thing is that I have no idea what that means. Every time I use my powers, things get darker. Especially when I use Grim. It's like I can't let go."

Kitty frowned, how much as she supposed to tell him? Then, she decided what she was to do. Kitty was a valiant girl, and brave. She would be his nchor and she wouldn't tell him what it did to her. Eternity said things would get easier as they went on, but Kitty had a bad feeling about that. Every time Zack drew from her, it was like he stole part of her, stole the warmth to her soul. What if one day there was none left?
She nodded, "Well, what do you say you and I go back to the Danger Room and vent out our issues?" She offered a slow smile.

Zack looked at her. "You're beautiful, you know that? I know this might seem strange but, would you like to go on a date with me sometime? It'd mean a lot to me if you did." He wasn't really sure what she'd say. It was true that they had kissed and he had loved it but it could have been a thing of the moment. He wasn't sure how to handle the situation. He wanted an answer before they went to the danger room. He might also have to change the simulation as she had seemed severely frightened by the Shadows. For some reason it made him sad to think of her frightened. He wondered what she would say. He knew he'd be sad if she sad no but that was about it. ~Why does this have to be so hard?~ He was killing himself here. Anyway, he arched his right eyebrow, questioning her.

A date, she'd been dating Pete as of late, though he seemed to have grown distant form her. Everything in her ached to just rush to the Danger Room and vent her confusion. But with Zack, it was hard to want to hide some things and harder to want to show him others.
She nodded slowly, "Okay, a date." Kitty agreed. He'd called her beautiful, she'd blushed deeply and avoided his eyes. She was never good at accepting compliments. She was a ghost, all the guys in the mansion had ignored her presence until now, when suddenly every guy seemed interested. Yet they never worked out. Zack, she couldn't tell. With her as his Anchor, things would be complicated. "But you have to promise me to practice in the Danger Room with someone and never alone again."

Zack was about to ask her why but stopped when he thought about it. So far she had seemed to care for him so he was going to trust her. Zack hesitated but then kissed her. She wouldn't feel drained this time as he was happy and didn't need it. He kissed her slowly, his hands holding her face. He pulled back. "I just wanted to do it one more time...I might never have a chance again." Ever since he had first kissed her he had been feeling better and better. He was at the point where he was happy for the first time. He looked at her eyes and smiled. "I think I'm going to be alright. For the first time, I think I'm going to be alright." He knew he was probably going to have to talk to his mother but he didn't mind anymore. She made him happy. Not her kiss but her existence.

Kitty had to try hard to remember to breathe when his lips took hers again. Every time he kissed her she had to remember that air was needed to survive. She was his anchor, the light to absorb his darkness and share his burden. And she would take whatever that meant.
As he pulled back, she couldn't stop her lips from tugging at one side in a smile before she gasped to breathe. "Come on, Shadow Boy, let's get working hard at the Danger Room. We both need it."

Zack smiled as he stood up and helped her to her feet. He embraced her tightly and together they began to sink into the bed's shadow. They entered the Shadow World. "It feels better when you're here." Before she could respond, they were rising out of another Shadow. The Shadows that had plagued the Danger Room were gone and were replaced by 12 looming Sentinels. The towering figures were menacing but Zack wasn't scared, not with Kitty there anyway. He let go of her and smiled as Kamikaze rose from his Shadow. It stood once it was done and Zack picked the gray Scythe up. He looked over at Kitty, "Let's see what you can do Pussy Cat." He chuckled, the happiest he had been in a long time, and ran straight towards a Sentinel, dodging the lasers with his above average speed. He jumped, landing on the Sentinel's chest and flipped off it as he swung down Kamikaze. Although the Scythe didn't physically touch him, a succeeding blade of wind cut straight down the Sentinel. Zack landed on the floor with a thud. ~11 more to go...~ He smiled at Kitty, "What have you got Pussy Cat?"

Kitty watched the display, her insides happy to see the shadows gone. Though, she knew her nightmares would be haunted by them tonight. She nodded and ran toward one Sentinel, phasing through the fire sent at her and next the lasers. Easy. Shadowcat reached the Sentinel's leg and phased inside, phasing up and reaching its center. She phased into the control system, focusing on the wiring and rearranging them before focusing hard.
The Sentinel's eyes flashed and turned to the other Sentinels, raising it's giant arms, morphing them into large guns and firing. Four of the opposing Sentinels went down fast under the mortar of weaponry before one of them got wise. It fired off at the Sentinel Kitty controlled and slashed through the torso where Kitty was. The giant robot faltered and fell into a jumbled heap of debris and metal. Kitty phased out of the rubble and smoke, coughing and wavering slightly on her feet.
She looked to Zack and winked tiredly. "Still a Pussy Cat?"

Zack smiled as he spun Kamikaze once and then sent it flying in the air. Suddenly huge spikes would strike at the remaining Sentinels, rendering them immobile. The spikes appeared from the shadows. Zack let out a breath as suddenly fire danced in his hands. He turned to one of the Sentinels and grinned. He pretended he was a pitcher and threw the fire as he would a curve ball. The fire sped flying much like a ball as it moved from one Sentinel to the other, killing off 5. There was one remaining. Zack walked up to Kitty and kissed her. When he pulled back Kamikaze fell down, slicing the remaining Sentinel straight down the middle. He looked at her eyes and smiled, panting. "Yeah, my Pussy Cat."

Her nose cringed with a smile, "Shadowcat. I would think that name would make sense to you the most." She lifted a brow at him and watched as a hidden sentinel strode forth from the darkness. She braced herself, "Zack, forgive me, but I have to practice." She didn't give him time to retaliate or ask questions, she phased, stepping inside him. Kitty blinked and saw through Zack's eyes. The cold, icy breath that had barely whispered at her soul when he kissed her before, was now a freezing being of itself in him. In her. She felt like everything was cold, distant. Every shadow looked strange to her, looked like it was its own being.
But she didn't have time to play around, she only had seconds, minutes at most in control of Zack's powerful body before she'd be forced out and most likely lose consciousness. The Professor had told her that she was in control, Kitty had to try and feel that way.
Kitty, in Zack's form, called forth Kamikaze and when it replaced itself in her hand, she sprinted for the Sentinel. Raising Kamikaze, she sliced foreward, taking out the Sentinel's legs and as it fell atop her, she sliced again, cutting it in two around her to land in a loud pile of crushing metal. Zack stood, Scythe in hand. Every shadow seemed like it whispered to her, every darkness wanted her to be a part of it. She slipped to her knees, holding her hands over her head. Was it like this all the time for him? Was it always so maddening? So cold?
"C-can't....S-s-stay...."
Kitty's body slipped away from Zack's, falling to a limp heap on the ground like the Sentinel just had. Tear tracks streaked her cheeks, her chestnut hair spilled over the ground like a halo. But her eyes, were closed. The energy it had taken to use her new-found gift robbed her of conciousness, as it usually did.
